I guess the point you're missing is that to me there's no difference between a borderline EC playoff team and a 5 seed WC playoff team. You ain't getting poo poo for playoff wins and you're getting a bad draft pick. The cavs were actually way smarter about losing LBJ than the thunder were about losing KD. Cavs got some pieces and the thunder got zilch and now get to watch Russ get them first round playoff exits while keeping any FA from wanting to touch the team with a 10 ft pole.

actually every single year in the sixers tank spree they have had players outperform the cavs best players from that year. they did this in limited minutes but cavs also had small minutes guys near the top of their rankings. its hilarious that you think a team comprised entirely of end of rotation dudes are a playoff team
