So, the K24 I have mounted has a real bad hot side oil leak, so I've pulled it into the garage to swap it out for a K26 for the time being while I rebuild the K24 and get it balanced This involves removing the intake and CIS air box, so out it comes Yup, Oily Lots of it. Smoked me out on the way home from the car show sunday when I came to a stop. The culprits. Bad seals The K26 that wil ltake its place for now. I'd rather have the K24, since it has a smaller hot side and spools at lower RPMs, but I gotta get to the exhaust shop. A little oily from a fauly supply line seal, but once I re-sealed it, it took.

Sweet Jesus, the K26 is MUCH much louder than the K24, sounds like a diesel turbo whine. Gonna try to run it to the exhaust shop.

So, I reinstalled the K24 a couple days ago, and then it wouldn't accelerate past 3,000 RPMs. Thinking the turbo rebuild had gone south, I removed it only to find it was in good shape, so I looked into the turbo inlet hose that goes to the CIS head. Yup, the hose was collapsing. Sleeved it for now, but long term I'll need to replace the hose. Accelerates like a bat out of hell now. I also replaced all the injector lines and replace a few rusted injectors that had fallen on bad times, replaced the injector seals and put new heat shields on them. Fired up the 3D printer to print a Gauge Panel that will replace the Radio. This is initial, I may re-design it for 3 gauges: In the end, it will have a boost gauge and a wideband O2 gauge. The radio is replaced by a simple bluetooth reciever and amp that will fit behind the dash.

Re-mounted the intercooler with some metal brackets and rubber bushings, so now it sits a little lower and doesn't vibrate: And then drove it to the office to give it a good shake down.

Got my first paying client, wants to get this 4kQ running for the US Cannonball Run, since it ran it in 1985. And joy of joys, wife's Volvo sprung a hole in the radiator endcap, so off to the junkyard for parts! Don't worry S60, your parts will live on in another brother. To Valhalla with you. Radiator Acquired. Also: Jackpot, found a Saab 900 Convertible Turbo that had a intercooler pipe that'll fit my Ur Quattro intercooler for the 20vT 4kQ More injectors! Spare parts for the 10vT

Intercooler installed in the 20vT, now need to run the Crankcase breather and the Catch Can Upgraded the Turbo pressure pipe on the 10vT to the Saab metal hose. Much nicer and stronger than the flimsy rubber one.

sharkytm posted:Annoying, but a good problem to have. Yeah. I'm gonna have to find a shop that will help me do a piping setup. Anyways, Friday I was driving the black 4kQ Turbo home, about a mile from the house car started running rough and smelled burning electronics. Shut off the car and coasted to a stop. ECU was burning hot, and the Frequency Valve was leaking gas. When I tried to unplug it, the connector was melted to it. I disabled the +12v to it and let the ECU cool off and it started, ran rough, but it got me home. After verifying everything was okay other than the Frequency Valve, I replaced it and installed a 3 Amp fuse inline with it to prevent it over-amping the ECU every again. Its a 38 year old ECU, not risking losing it: While I was in there, I also retarded the distributor a bit because I've been getting pinging on acceleration. Tested on the highway this morning, it seems a lot happier. Bonus 20vT Photo.
