Welcome the the Xbox and Microsoft Megathread, a thread for all the various consoles that Microsoft has made. Xbox Console Series
It's also worth mentioning that that Xbox One S is only $249 USD, while the Xbox One X is $499. Also, if you're still on the fence, Microsoft announced last year at E3 that all first party Xbox One games going forward would be released on Windows 10 and Steam. With that said, most of those releases started in the Windows 10 Store and the UWP sandboxing can cause weird behavior and oddly high system requirements, however it is still an option worth considering for lower performance indie titles and those who already have gaming PC's. Upcoming Games that are almost but not quite exclusive (defined as: games that are planned for the Xbox One console hardware and PC in some capacity, whether that's the Win 10 store or Steam):
Upcoming games that are actually exclusive (defined as: Games that are playable on the Xbox One console hardware and no other system, including PC):
if you're trying to catch up on all the games offered on the Xbox One X or the Xbox One S, please take a look at this list of past E3 exclusives: Here is the complete list of truly exclusive current content for the Xbox One (i.e. not playable on PS4 or Windows 10), timed or otherwise. Megafunk posted:Just going to expect a good percentage of the more demanding games to downscale from ~4k~ to something less crazy when things get tricky. This is pretty likely. Either it's going to be checkerboarding a'la the PS4 Pro or simply running at an internal resolution of 1440p and upscaling to 4K.

Phantom Dust was a surprise announcement at E3 2014 that caught everyone off guard, including the people making the game. It was originally going to be a multiplayer reboot of the series. Then it was going to have a single player campaign as well, and then the developers ran out of money and had to close their doors because of this feature creep and the game was shelved. Then last year Microsoft announced that there would be an HD Remaster of the original game by a different studio, and that came out last month.

The Xbox One S does NOT play games in 4K. It will still play them in the same 1080p/1440p/900p/792p resolutions that they were in on the original Xbox One. If you want to show off games in 4K, you need to wait until November and buy the Xbox One X, not the Xbox One S that's available now.

Cojawfee posted:The Xbonx is supposedly going to render normal games at 1080p. The image doesn't change between 720p and 1080p on the Xbone because it's not rendering at 1080p. It is probably rendering at 720p and then upscales to 1080, it isn't gaining any new information. From what their presentation sounded like, The Xbonx can increase the resolution of normal xbone games. It sounded to me like existing Xbox One games could get patched to support 4K a'la the PS4 Pro. That said, for existing games that used a dynamic resolution system,, they would likely be running at a de facto higher resolution due to the extra processing power available. But still wouldn't go above 1080p unless patched.

RBA Starblade posted:I know this is the bone thread but it sort of counts, does the Windows 10 store ever have sales? I expected one at E3 like Sony but only saw Gears of War for 30 bucks. Seldomly, never at a time that would make sense for gaming, and with next to no promotion or advertising for the sale, but they do.

veni veni veni posted:Since I have this free copy I'm Dl'ing it now and remembering how poorly received it was. Did they not fix it? What exactly did they gently caress up (if it's multi you can just say multi without going into specifics because I only like Halo Single player and Co-op). Multiplayer was completely broken at launch and while they tried to fix it, it never really got fixed to the level of what was originally promised. To make matters worse, it worked fine enough in pre-release when all the reviewers were playing it, or they gave it the benefit of the doubt and assumed the matchmaking issues were a result of the game having a low player population on account of being pre-release.
