I'm glad the NBA general public knows and can enjoy this now because OKC fans had to bury this poo poo for years

I really don't get the media's love affair with Ainge outside of all the usual Boston media connections

Idk, unless there were chemistry issues (which I doubt) I think someone is over micro-managing this poo poo. They need to keep a somewhat same roster for a year or 3 ffs. I admit I don't get the nuances of the finances, but letting Gibson go and going after Rudy Gay with his injury don't make no sense to me.

We're literally deep in the tax and up against the hard cap right now with Roberson still to re-sign and figuring how to fit Gay in with the MLE. Team construction goals aside, if that's the deal Taj was looking for money-wise we literally couldn't pay that without abandoning Gay AND Roberson. He was always a rental, not a long-term core piece.

We are neither in the tax nor in a hard cap

I meant after those signings that's the area you're in. We're going to be in the luxury after the Roberson signing (presumably) and then you've still got to get Gay somehow with like 8-10ish million. I don't know if there's a reason we don't stretch Singler if we can't dump him, but I'm not sure how much that frees up. And there's still no backup PG.

Green is very good but to me a top 10 player is one who can at least be the main guy on a bad playoff team, and a team where Draymond Green was the star surrounded by scrubs wouldn't come close to the playoffs.

He's a really good defender and passer and a mediocre offensive player on a team where you have to be mentally handicapped to not look good on offense. He's real good and an All-Star but start listing guys and if he's higher than 10 just come on I mean seriously

Speaking of stats, these hot takes about Green are amusing in light of the fact that he averaged 7.0 apg in the 2016-17 season, the 9th highest mark in the league, the only PF in the top 30, the best passing forward not named LeBron James (and a better assist-turnover ratio than James), the only Warrior in the top 10, almost half an assist per game better than Wardell Stephen Curry

Sometimes he jacks up bad 3s without running the offense. Sometimes he tries to drive to the rim and throws up a bad shot and hopes for a foul call that will not come. This should not fool anyone into thinking that he isn't a huge part of the Warriors' beautiful-game offensive system.

Those are all true statements I guess. He's still not a top 10 player. Nobody in this thread is saying Draymond Green sucks. The hottest take anybody has made is that he's not better than Paul Millsap.

Even though it's unpopular because everyone hates the Warriors right now, they basically play basketball porn and are in the midst of one of the greatest runs in the history of the sport.

If you watch a Warriors game in which they're playing about 26 to 27 other teams in the league, even as an outsider, you'll notice the talent and execution differential is insane. They've got a core group of 4 (Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala) that have been together for about 5 years now so they're very familiar with one another and their passing is insane.

The best recent soccer analogy I can think of is basically a more aggressive Barcelona/Team Spain from about 5-6 years ago when they were an unstoppable force.

Sure, tons of people will rag on you for being a front runner, etc, but just understand deep down that this was a franchise mired in absolutely terrible mismanagement for the better part of its existence, that the true fans have absolutely suffered for most of their adult lives (I'm 32 and for the sentient years from about 7 until 27 I can remember them being absolutely terrible with the exception of about 4 seasons during that 20 year span) and, after you do a little research and can drop things in a sentence like "Run TMC, Baron Davis, We Believe, Zarko Cabarkapa, Bobby Sura, the Tim Hardaway crossover etc, they'll generally leave you alone.

Counterpoint: if you root for the Warriors you are A Chode and everyone will know it especially after you post something like this

I literally can't understand the mindset of just being cool with the jersey ads. I mean I'm not losing sleep over it but everything about it is just crass, gross, and cheap and it does actually detrimentally affect the product, which is entertainment you consume with your eyeballs. Like, at best you're indifferent and the lovely ads cluttering up the jerseys doesn't affect your enjoyment of the game, but unless you're an insane person who actually thinks they improve it, you're a consumer and they in no way benefit you or the product. Grow a pair and Be Mad About The Ads. It's ok

This might actually be a good thing. He was good his rookie season before the foot injury, then refused to get surgery and opted to go the non-surgical recovery route which I'm pretty sure has worked out for exactly 0 NBA players with that injury and has led to it breaking again twice now if it ever even healed right in the first place (it didn't, it never does, if you get a Jones fracture and won't get surgery you're a loving dumbass)

Realistically he probably will never be good again because he's an undersized point guard of average athleticism but you know, there's a chance now

oh gently caress off. Like KD is a tryhard, but you really think a loving black dude from DC doesn't have convictions on Trump's racist bullshit?

Like sure joke around and hate KD all you want for where he wants to play basketball, and for being a bit of a lame. but it's fairly offensive imply he doesn't actually care about those policies.

It's like a local radio host here thinking Derrick Rose is too stupid to understand the statement he's making when he's wearing an "I Can't breath" shirt during warmups, as if a dude who grew up in Englewood and to this day will pay for funerals for people in his old neighborhood, doesn't have actual knowledge of what's going on.

it's not really. derrick rose despite being kind of a dummy and maybe rapist? is undoubtedly engaged in social causes and in his community, as reflected by his actions and words throughout his career. and he was obviously engaged in the Eric Garner tragedy as evidenced by him wearing the shirt. that's putting yourself out there. which is the whole point; having an opinion is not the same thing as actually giving a poo poo. I don't doubt Kevin Durant dislikes both racism or Donald Trump because so does everybody who's not human garbage, it's kind of the bare minimum.

but notably, while LeBron and derrick rose and everybody else under the sun was comfortable wearing the I can't breathe shirts and speaking out, Durant didn't wear the shirt, and had this to say at the time explaining why and what his feelings were on it:

"Those guys stood up for what they believe in. I felt as a citizen first, I was a little confused about the whole deal. Obviously I didn’t know the facts about everything. I just want what’s right for our whole country. That’s what I’m about : helping everybody uniting. So I’m gonna try to do my part here individually every single day as a man and go from there."

that's pretty much been his position on every remotely controversial subject his whole career, even something as easy as Eric Garner. luckily taking A Stand on Trump isn't controversial, it's pretty much expected. if Durant's publicist thought visiting the White House was a good idea and not a loving PR nightmare, he'd be at the White House talking about unity.

it doesn't mean Durant is A Bad Person who secretly likes Trump and racism; it's pointing out the obvious which is that he hasn't been willing to stick his neck out on a single social issue that wasn't an absolute layup his whole career. it's fine, not everybody is obligated to be Charles Barkley or whatever. some dudes just want to sell shoes.

He's a dude that doesn't like to be criticized at all, it's not surprising he didn't say anything. He's said way more about it since moving to the bay I think. I also kinda think he's a super awkward dude whose entire life has revolved around basketball. And he really doesn't know how to function when he's not around it.

being in OKC hasn't stopped Westbrook and other Thunder players past/present from being public with their feelings to at least some extent about race and police violence. there's never been anything preventing Durant using his platform to advocate if he wanted to, he's just always chosen not to

can't disagree with the second part though
