My list was: 2 auto rifle lieutenants, 3 5-man boltrifle intercessor squads, 2 5-man grav chute bolter reiver squads and 2 plasma incinerator hellblaster squads.

Infiltrating boltrifle intercessors are REALLY loving good. One of them took out an entire tactical squad in the first turn because I infiltrated them pretty aggressively into rapid fire range.

Have you painted these guys to look like Alpha Legion? I love that so many people are bringing back loyalist traitor legions. I'm doing thousand sons myself. Although they don't quite fit the rules well, in terms of so fewer psykers in a primaris army. That said, thousand sons have their own stealth/terror cults and such, the pyrae cults for fire, and they specialized in plasma tech from zhao-arkhaad so it fits surprisingly well.

Post some pics of your dudes!

The Repulsor looks better in person than in photos. You can leave a lot of the extra junk off: the gear loaded on the sides in the back, some of the sensory equipment, etc.

I'm trying to keep mine a bit cheaper, so I'm leaving off the twin las and las talon. Anti-tank can be provided by some other dedicated unit.

The omophagea doesn't come up much, but in this new book an Alpha Legion soldier eats part of a imperial guardsman's brain mid combat and learns some command codes and the name of his commanding officer. :what:

For my primaris Thousand Sons I'm just saying that, lore wise, there's about 1 highly skilled librarian per 30 soldiers. That's a very high ratio for Astartes and can be easily represented on the battle field. Not all the Thousand Sons were psykers. My army has 1 librarian and a chaplain to keep him in line (Cawl's direction when rebuilding the Thousand Sons).

I've got 3 of the flamer gravis dudes who I'm considering Pyrae cult, minor psykers able to use their pyromancy to get more out of their weapons.

Hope we get some Primaris terminators.

I finished reading Shroud of Night so you don't have to. No, really, you shouldn't read it. It's not very good. Read Talon of Horus instead.

Here are the interesting Alpha Legion tidbits. These may only apply to the Alpha Legion in the book, or they may be part of a new retcon, or they may not entirely be new bits of lore.

- The Alpha Legion do not worship the chaos gods. They worship Alpharius and Omegon.
- They refuse to accept chaos gifts. The other legions call them the Ungifted.
- They seem to believe Alpharius is still alive. Maybe this is just deception by Omegon.
- Alpharius is probably still alive (or the one-soul two-bodies theory is a thing and it's just one dude now).
- In the dark side of the galaxy, the Imperium are using powerful singular psykers as beacons to guide ships. Various space kingdoms form around these stable points. The AL manage to steal one. Space kingdom falls.
- Kharne cuts off the head of Celestine. But before the blow lands she seems happy she accomplished her goal: helping the AL steal the psyker (!) apparently the emperor sent her there to do this.

Um, so I guess not much new there. In the book the AL encounter Primaris marines and assume they will be weak corruptions, but are surprised this isn't the case.

For 40k I can field:

Primaris Marines (Loyalist Thousand Sons)
Tau
World Eaters
AdMech (Dark Mechanicus)
Orks (Deathskulls)
Knights Questoris

For 30k I can field:

Mechanicum Taghmata
Mechanicum Ordo Reductor (Unpainted)
World Eaters
Thousand Sons (Traitors, Unpainted)
Knights Questoris

For Sigmar I can field:

Hammers of Sigmar
Blades of Khorne
Clan Pestilins
Rotbringers

I've painted a bunch of my armies and a few are commissions. I like to collect and mess around with more armies than I can reasonably paint myself.

The Death Guard codex is awesome. Love all the character options, new daemon engines, and the way daemons are regular choices in the codex. I bet we get some new beasts of nurgle models with the next Sigmar nurgle release.

The Dark Imperium nurgle bits mix fairly well with the putrid blightkings bits. I was able to get most of the way to a second squad (melee oriented) by mixing bits:

Kind of a dark photo, but you get the idea.

Painted a couple more of my loyalist Primaris Thousand Sons this weekend.

"It is my duty to bear the Album Exanimus Damnatorum, the book of Tizcan dead. Within its pages are kept the names of each man, woman, and babe lost during the burning of our great city. Every civilian, every soldier, and every legionnaire. A painful reminder of our failings and a registry of the betrayed -- but also of the betrayers. At great length and cost, we have collected the true names of the wolves that died burning our home. Lore forgotten by the grey skalds, lost even, perhaps, to the wolf-father. It is my hope to one day share these names with the sons of Russ and restore that which was sundered."
- Athkatet, Magister Templi of the Aethenian Cult, XV Legion (cross ref: Sons of Khepri Chapter Primaris)

"The magisters teach that before the great betrayal one in five could manifest the talents - now it is, perhaps, one in thirty. We hide from those who would forever doubt our loyalty. We consort with the agents of Mars in shadow. We flee the ever-seeking eye of our shattered, mad father. We are greatly diminished, but all is not yet dust."
- Corsun Achamenae, Lieutenant, Pavoni, XV Legion (cross ref: Sons of Khepri Chapter Primaris)

"The delegation from the Pallid Hand have become tiresome. They accomplish nothing and their ceaseless interruptions with requests for status reports costs us time and attention. Mortarion will surely not miss such a small band of his sons and our research will be greatly advanced by utilizing the fools in a more direct manner. He did say that the delegation was...at our disposal. I, for one, do not know what becomes of an Astartes subject to the servitor protocols. Process them and satisfy my curiosity."

"We have sequenced much of the Destroyer Plague and stabilized new necrotic vectors within micellar spheres. A high priesthood has been infected and who maintain self-awareness even in death as long as the hydrophobic generators are charged with the essential-vitae of other lifeforms. It seems only intelligent life is able to provide sufficient charge to the micellar batteries within the greater virulence. This phenomenon is without explanation, but is only a minor inconvenience and likely of trifling importance to the greater work."

"The enslaved viral strands have greatly accelerated our ability to produce assassins. We no longer need to build skitarii specialists from living stock. Moderately intact...they need only be moderately intact..."

The dead Eldar homeworlds are called Crone Worlds. They tend to be infested with daemons, interesting ruins, and sometimes eldar ghosts (if there are unlooted soul gems present).

Regarding Omegon: It's unlikely he is a daemon prince, if he survived his battle with Guilliman (Alpharius did not survive Dorn, but the death of Omegon at the hands of Guilliman is less clear). In the current lore for the Alpha Legion they've been written as swearing off the blessings of the dark gods. They try to stay pure and they don't seem to be advancing any chaos agenda, so much as advancing their own. I hope they do something interesting with the Alpha Legion. They weren't handled well in 30k. Alpharius basically throws his life away pointlessly at the Battle of Pluto. Maybe that was his plan all along. :/ He did whisper something to Dorn as he died that hasn't been revealed, Dorn dismissed whatever he said as a lie.

They had an entire novel recently, Shroud of Night, set after the Imperium Nihilus stuff. A small group of them were stuck on a chaos arena world, they killed everyone on the planet over some hundreds of years and eventually found a way off. They end up sneaking around on a planet under siege by Kharne. Celestine shows up. Alpha Legion run into their first Primaris and are surprised, figuring the Imperium must be corrupted to modify space marines. They don't know about Guilliman. It goes into their operating tactics and philosophy. I thought it was pretty good.
