it was so novel how in Baldurs gate you could kill, petrify, or take control of any NPC or creature you encountered in the entire world i spent so many hours breaking the poo poo out of that game with shadowkeeper its not even funny p sure i did a game where i just wanted to petrify every man, woman, child, monster, and animal just to see if i could

the only bugs i kill on sight are: mosquitoes, flies, and cockroaches or any bug thats potentially harmful like black widows or whatever (but ill try to put those guys outside if i can)

I think i read that the best way to play now is to get the enhanced edition and do some unofficial patch and go hog wild.

baldur's gate 1 is also really good and BG2 continues the story of 1, but it's not a requirement you play BG1 first. BG2 is an improvement in every single way.
