My parents did this when I was super young when there was no work here, and yeah, its a pretty bad job, but if you want to see some of the best country in the world with great weather, they will take you if you have a pulse and show up, but after salmon season ends, thats it. To be fair, at least in Kenai, "room and board" can sometimes be "you can pitch a tent down by the windy coast and we will let you eat the bad salmon".
