what exactly has caused the steep drop in profits over the last week. I was doing over $6 a day on a 1070 and now its barely $3. Still way in the black but troubling. Im not seeing a major drop in value so is it just all the added miners fighting for new blocks and only that? If nicehash wasnt so easy to get started they wouldnt never be mining, but neither would I

what is the difference in cost between 1 and 3-4 GB of RAM?
Are people really trying to save a few bucks when they just dropped 4k on a bunch of GPUs?
Or are you talking about VRAM cause none of the cards with 1gb have hashrates anywhere near being worth using.

Fauxtool

4gb is the recommended minimum which may go up in the future.
That said a lot of the recommendations for minimum RAM are back when you could still mine on CPU. Im pretty sure it uses VRAM if you are mining on a GPU.

its like a reserve of lovely cards that only miners will touch only after all the good ones are out of stock. It achieves nothing as long as miners have no limit on the amount of cards they can take in.

what is the exact command line to lower intensity for equihash EWBF?
I am using --intensity= 17 and it doesnt seem to do anything. On the other pools that use that command it will take my GPU down to 88% or so. On EWBF its 99% all the time even if I try --intensity= 1

"--intensity 1"

why are people paying over retail for 3rd party 1070's when the FE from the nvidia store is in stock and always been in stock through all the shortages.

The 25% more you would pay retail for an open air cooler doesnt give you 25% more mining performance.

I just sold my 1070FE to someone on Craigslist who doesnt realize they arent hard to get.

*edit oh wait they say in stock on the main page but backordered in cart. Still though, estimated ship date: 6/30/17 and you can actually order them without having to fight all the bots on newegg

its only barely faster for me and only because I havent figured out how to change intensity. So its running at full tilt instead of 95%

It seems more stable and doesnt cause my GPU driver to fail as much when stopping. The downside is that the list of pools to pick from is much less and I dont see the dual miners which is bad news for 1080ti's

you wont find any as they are actually good for things besides mining and hold value. You may find some moderately discounted 1070s but I wouldn't expect anything less than $350 for awhile as they are actually in demand by gamers. The 1060s to a lesser degree and 580s will probably attempt to sell for above retail as they have been, followed by a panicked race to the bottom as they compete with the actual big miners dumping 100 at a time for 50% off

I look forward to grabbing some 1060 6gb strix cards

1070s were dropping below $300 at times before they got bought out a month or so ago. 1080s were flirting with $400.

I'd say 1070s are going to end up at $200-225. Since miners didn't buy up 1080s prices aren't going to tank as immediately/drastically, but they are still in the same market. And the 1080 in particular still isn't quite enough for 4K, it's a 1440p card still, so it's very subject to substitution by 1070s if the price is too high. I would bet we see $300-350 for 1080s after all of this hits the market.

A huge amount of those mining cards are 470/570 and 480/580 so those are going to be the prices that tank hardest. I wouldn't be surprised to see 480 4 GB models hit $100 and 8 GB models under $150. That's basically where they were before the mining bubble, but I think there's pretty good demand for them from gamers at the $100/150 price points.

I would be very curious to watch a graph of new units sold over the past 2 years and over the next 6-12 months.

yeah the 100+ GPU shed mines like the one posted earlier are all 470-580 and no 1060s. I think 1060s are mostly the mid-late comers building smaller 6-12 gpu rigs. Well except for that master businessman who rented out that warehouse in NY. Anyone check in on him to see if hes alive still?

It should go without saying, do not buy any thing r9 390 and earlier. I will personally be only be looking at current gen cards with the most intact warranties. Asus and gigabyte are safe bets as their warranties are attached to the card not the buyer. Several other companies are this way but make sure before buying.

Do a proper burn in test on the card as soon as you get it to make sure its stable
