Tiler Kiwi posted:still can't believe there's a neolib reddit Yeah, it's weird because the entire point of calling yourself a centrist is to be actively ignorant of the ideologies and policy prescriptions that result from said ideologies but still pretend that you're an enlightened figure who's somehow above petty partisanship or politics itself. Actually arguing and communicating ideas undoes that whole venture from a foundational level.

I could see recruiting them in that many members of the military are essentially promised the benefits of socialism in return for service, and that many of those promises have been completely undercut by the very people who adorn themselves in faux-patriotism the most. But that's assuming the Dems in question actually believe in some kind of political/social message and instead just want to be seen as the military-approved party.

What's funny is that Bernie's statement doesn't even single out Clinton, so these people getting buttmad about it have somehow recognized how it applies to their particular golden calf.

The Dems can’t have a Corbyn because the structure of the party is fundamentally different than the Dems, the registered D voters have no actual membership in the party. It is designed to keep as little actual voter sentiment from affecting change in leadership and direction as possible.

Is the Hillary Victory Fund being a huge scam actually new news? I could have sworn it came up last year in the primary on the forum, because I remember the Hill-folk were very quick to shout down anybody who brought it up as “not understanding how fundraising works”.

“Obama did [Republican thing] and still got reélected !” *ignores 2010* *ignores that 2012 was significantly closer than his 2008 victory* Obama’s failures at the start led us to where we are today. Maybe his dumb “compromise as goal, not means” ideology was massively unpopular and he only retained office because people still had enough good will remaining to buy into the “lesser evil” scenario at least once.
