I forgot what a disgusting vile person Tom Leykis is inside and out. It was a hilarious episode but also a very uncomfortable listen especially that clip with the caller complaining about his wife wanting him to leave his band. I think at one point he talks about knocking some sense into his wife. I wish I could go back to the days when I thought Leykis was a character James Adomian created for Comedy Bang! Bang!.

Can't wait for the Bob & Tom episode next week and I'm glad the special guest is going to be Mike Hale.

Yeah, I had never heard of him except oblique street fight references before starting Shocktober and boy howdy does he seem like a completely miserable sack of poo poo. It probably shouldn't be as shocking as it is how many of these guys are just absolutely putrid, vile individuals. The Stern episodes have been really refreshing after all of the racism, misogyny, homophobia etc of the others.

I thought for sure my normie Chicago buddy would know a Mancow fan but alas, the hunt continues.

Oh poo poo! SF actually has a following here? I stumbled across it a few years ago via in-app recommendations (Overcast, maybe?) and thought I was probably one of a few dozen folks who listened to it & really enjoyed it.

There's a few of us. This thread will go weeks without a post and then have short bouts of activity.

The break-up and the month or two leading up to it were a bummer, but I've gotta say Bryan has been releasing some really good shows, both on the free feed and the Patreon.

The Tom Leykis show had so much horrible audio in it it was almost more than I can handle. What a loving monster. Jesse Farrar seemed so defeated by the end of it.

I started listening before Brett got divorced and I had come to the conclusion that (as far as the show's purpose seemed intended) he was the rock and that Brian would sometimes drift out of orbit only to have Brett pull him back in.

Post-divorce, Brett's heel turn into mental health issues has been difficult to stomach, if only because it feels like I'm watching this happen to a friend, to someone I kinda' know from listening to the show for the past few years.

the beginning of the end was brett chickening out on doing hedo brett

this is kind of lol but Bryan's experience inspired me to seek out ketamine infusion therapy and poo poo i wild but also seems to really be working better than previous antidepressants I've tried but also I can still bust so 10/10.

I've been off street fight for a bit though because I really do miss the Bryan/Brett interaction, not say Bryan by himself doesn't make great shows, but for the call in show especially I feel like there's a piece missing.

I was never able to sit through the entirety of a Weed Waffles call, I'd listen to a few seconds then skip forward, then listen a bit, etc. Always astonished by how long he was able to go.

Ain't easy looking this eggstraordinary.

Bryan mentioned again in this last ep that he's doing some kind of format change around November 15 and separately opined that if he were to ever have another permanent cohost, it would be Chris James who he does some of the Shocktober stuff with so that could be interesting. I like listening to Bryan because I just like the idea of a good-natured midwestern oaf trying desperately to put on a radio show about the stuff he likes and the man has a talent for chronicling a very specific slice of culture in America

oh poo poo i didnt know there was a new shocktober, i was just listening to the old episodes. anthony and opie are an interesting pair, one guy is a oval office and compensates for it by being funny, the other guy isnt funny and compensates for it by being a oval office

mancow is my favourite thought because he just lies like a child lies

i did some calls early on for chris james' prank show but i kinda fell out of contact with him. hes very funny but a hard guy to read because its difficult to tell if hes doing a bit. you can never tell if you really pissed him off or if he was overreacting to be funny because he acts the exact same way in both scenarios. im glad hes getting more media out there though because he is very talented and a kind guy overall.

one thing thats interesting if you do prank these guys is you can tell like who is the biggest rear end in a top hat to people around them by how attentive their call screeners are. id expected it to be related to budget, and it is a little bit, but you have some Fox guys whose call screeners absolutely hate them and will let basically anyone through. Hannity has weirdly loyal guys and idk if its just purely money based or if he is at least polite to people around him. But like, Todd Starnes, idk if hes even on fox any more, his screeners would let through basically anyone.

i called mancow both at the tail end of his shock jock career on WLUP (i think in 2017?) and him on his new weird christian radio poo poo, and his call screener was a lot more dedicated when he was a shock jock. i think he lost his whole fanbase basically.

I wonder if it's a Patreon thing, like they wouldn't let him easily change the bank account to his from Brett's or something. Brett has just made some normal apology-type posts today, nothing that seems close to referring to this stuff.

It sucks, there was a call-in show in late 2018 where it was clear that they were really enjoying working together as a team, and the audience was digging the vibe, and it remains one of my favorite episodes of any podcast. It really feels like one of those cases where the intense stress of the pandemic and its attendant political and social problems just ended up squeezing some people too hard and their ways of keeping themselves together broke down. Just a huge bummer.

Depends on how both creators have them set up, at this point. Bryan's seems to be using the same "charge on the first for the past month" model as SFR's, so probably end of month/1st since you're gonna eat one from SFR this month already?

The audio in the Studio C episode was atrocious. I was watching the video version and I had to have the volume cranked way up to hear anything.
