Thursday will be six days since the last MYC talent announcement.

I know a lot of background information about the MYC. The screening process has been OTT and outside talent has been nth guessed WAY too much but I've still have faith in the tournament field. I am less idealistic than say a month ago. There's people who would be in my realistic 32 who ain't.

I know a couple Joshi who were contacted but either turned it down or couldn't make it too, which is disappointing. There's always room for surprises like the CWC with mediocre or unknowns putting out great matches but I don't think it's going to have the starpower that the CWC did.

It's almost a gimme at this point that one or two of the Chinese women in training will be first round knockouts too. I really wish Lin Bairon/Ray hadn't had so many health issues because she would have been an outstanding grab for the tournament, knowing English, Japanese, and Mandarin fluently

I genuinely don't anything Asian participant wise besides Hojo. Just expect Shayna Baszler, Nicole Matthews, Deonna Purrazzo, Rachael "Evers" Ellering, Candice LeRae, Mia Yim and Kay Lee Rey.

Wow no Britt Baker?

Expect her to be in NXT by year end regardless - if she chooses to be when she graduates dentistry school. Just I haven't heard her in conjunction with the MYC that's all.

How is Baszler? I'm surprised they'd be willing to bring someone so relatively new, even with the minor notoriety she has via Ronda.

For her level great I guess. Get's major plus points for her attitude in terms of willingness to learn and for being a major positive locker room morale wise.

Meltzer reported she was the most recommended NXT tryoutee in recent memory. She's friendly with the Bellas and Nattie. I believe she would be signed if not for her age (36). There was a big storyline pitch late last year for her to work a 3 month feud with Becky Lynch.

As for the results of the MYC, I've talked about it before, but I would say the two names I could see winning (or rather, should win) are Toni Storm or Kairi Hojo. Maybe Candice LaRae, but I don't know about that too much.

I fully expect it to be a TJP like person though.

Why I think Mia Yim will win. It is always dodgy/cynical to talk in these terms but she ticks the ethnicity box, speaks English, has a human interest story, earned experience on the indies and has TV experience via TNA.

I am very high on Yim personally. Can carry a pure rookie while can offer a NXT Takeover match wrestling high level wrestlers.

Her biggest weakest is promos.

Ruby Riot overnight posted a picture in Florida with some of the NXT girls and Kay Lee Ray and Candice.

In the NXT thread this week those were the next two indie names I expected to be announced next.

Evie/Dakota is a El Generico level babyface.

She tried with Billie and Peyton but WWE didn't pick her up. The likes of Ricochet not being signed is rightfully cited as one of NXT's bigger mistakes but Evie being signed then would have greatly helped with the post-Bayley hangover NXT has experienced.

Looks like the MYC will have a title belt:

I guess it will ape the UK Championship. A weekly TV show and periodic title defenses on friendly indie promotion's shows.

Bryan Alvarez said on WOL there's 5 slots vacant in the MYC.

People are meant to report to Orlando on Monday.

In WWE's defence I will say I do know of one major injury to a well known name.

Nixon's last few matches on the indies were something I had never seen before from a signed talent. Shooting star presses to the floor and stuff. Her shoulder is very bad too. I hope she isn't physically breaking down already.

Another name we can confirm is undergoing medical testing is Deonna Purrazzo.

Deonna Purrazzo is no stranger to the WWE Performance Center as she has had a WWE Tryout back in February of 2016. The 23 year old has also competed on NXT as enhancement talent as well as appearing on SmackDown Live facing Alexa Bliss.

Purrazzo has also appeared for IMPACT, losing a singles match against Brooke at Knockouts Knockdown II. Deonna returned to TNA on January 8, 2016 at the One Night Only: Live PPV and participated in a #1 Contender’s Gauntlet Match, where she was eliminated by Awesome Kong. She made a third appearance on March 17, 2016 at Knockouts Knockdown IV where she lost to Madison Rayne. On January 19, 2017, episode of Impact Wrestling, Purrazzo faced Brooke in a losing effort.

Recently Purrazzo has returned from a stay with STARDOM in Japan. Just this past weekend Deonna made her SHIMMER debut.

http://squaredcirclesirens.com/possible-mae-young-classic-name-2/

Used to think I was biased toward Deonna and I am likely still am due to stumbling upon her matches at an early stage, following her rapid improvement and getting to know her generally. But then as time went on she has gotten strong notices by fans, promoters and other wrestlers. The amount and scope of Wrestling people who have praised her or follow her on social media is really cool. Her popularity and how good of a wrestler she is probably better within the industry than with fans I hope the MYC changes that. Also stops her being typecast as enhancement talent.

Expect the choice of alternates and the first round losers to be pretty controversial. Doesn't seem to be as well judged as the CWC IMO.

Have a lot of respect for Nicole. She's kind of like the female Chuck Taylor character wise. Sadly she's more or less exiled up in Vancouver. A very expense plane ticket for US promoters. Hope this raises her profile.

The atmosphere was said to be really good last night at the Mae Young Classic, which comes down to the final two with 14 matches tonight. The talk going in was 5-10 contracts would be offered and you'll probably get a good idea of some of them based on who makes the final four. Unlike the cruiserweight tournament where they had figured everyone they liked would sign and that didn't happen, there is no avenue for the women to make big money in wrestling outside of WWE like there is for men, so it would be a surprise for anyone offered a deal to turn it down.

They were revolving a lot of wrestlers for camera shots like they were all watching at ringside. Most were just brought in for the camera shots but Natalya and Beth Phoenix were at ringside. Ronda Rousey, Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke were there for the Shayna Baszler match. Shinsuke Nakamura, Emma, Bayley, Carmella, Alexa Bliss, Tamina, Naomi, Nia Jax, Akira Tozawa, Ata Johnson (Dwayne's mother) Mike & Maria, Kassius Ohno and Johnny Gargano were out at different times. Ohno's girlfriend (Rachael Ellering) and Gargano's wife (Candice LeRae) were in the tournament. The big surprise was said to be how Jazzy Gabert, the MMA fighter who was Alpha Female in TNA a few years back, got over.
