I'd like to know more about the limitations on poker. To what extent are buy-ins reduced, and how effective is it in stemming the flow of money?

So the max amount of money you can buy into the game with now is 2000, instead of 200k piece of eight. There is also a rake taking 3% of every win, so far it seems incredibly effective with far more people pillaging and taking ships out to sea monster hunt.

In as Warsloth. I'm getting random crashes of the client and afterwards for about 30 seconds it says Logon failed: We experienced a problem authenticating with Steam. Please ensure the steam client is running. Any ideas?

800 players last night! I just decided to treat myself to a new outfit and headed to the tailor, was amused to see that in over the ten years since i stopped playing, they haven't added a single new item of female clothing aside from a couple hats

Time to start talking strategy. Specifically, I mean to get my own ship soon but need advice on how to do it. I'm guessing that the first practical step would be to buy a sloop. Before I do, I'd like to know if ships degrade over time the same way badges do. Is buying myself a ship enough to get started? I feel as if I'm going to need an officer or captain's badge second, right? Probably can't even sail the thing without one. What do I need (minimum) to get myself into a position where I'm the one calling the shots and divvying up the dough at the end of each voyage?

Ships do not degrade but can be sunk in pvp if you are far enough out. You do indeed need an officers badge but apart from that you are all set!

It might, but nothing that has any sort of time component. I was an OG on the first public ocean back in 04-05, I checked back in this last week just for the poo poo of it to claim my name and check for my irl pirate friends. Alas now that it's Steam-only Obsidian no longer runs on Linux. Oh well, guess I'll chill on Emerald (as Rhube) and see what happens. So much easier to get good/excellent/incredible performance on puzzles! Here I thought I was rusty as hell, but I guess it depends on the playerbase or something.

I wonder if the people better than me at the main three quit so I can be #1 now. I'll give this a shot at least. Played this so much way back when as a top 10-20 in sails, bilging and carpentry on Midnight. Was some fun times. Wondering if I can still do it. Is the PvE bnav still exploitable with last second moves? E: Rip, no one is on. I guess I can buff up my skills to get into the better puzzle effects. I dunno about subsequent iterations, but Salty Mouthfuls were a beta crew that disbanded before beta ended (Rubby where you at). As far as I know, I had the only 'goon-run' flag after that for a few years, although I didn't recruit from the forums. I wanted to post a write-up I made for a goon crew a few years ago on one of the dub oceans.
