Nc3, puts pressure on their queen and there's not a lot of good places to stash her afterward.

They're goons. Do you honestly think they're going to do anything other then bash face-first into the problem?

# ¿ Jul 11, 2017 23:25 |

Why not Bb5? That forces them to sacrifice a piece.

I'm still making a case for Bb5, which naturally proceeds to this state.Black's queen side pawns and knight are pinned down, the only bad thing is that black gets the first unforced move.

If they advance their knight we capture it with our bishop. A bishop for a knight is a good trade.

Yeah, my main problem is being too aggressive. Changing vote from Bb5+ to d4

Oh look, that move I was just discussing. The correct counter is Be2 right?

Be2 change to Nf3 Let's not be deliberately stupid

If we go Bb5+ they're only going to be in check for 1-2 turns, and the second they're out of check their bishop takes our queen.

jon joe posted:Good news, everyone! I managed to get my hands on a book dedicated SPECIFICALLY to the Scandinavian defense, with over 200 pages talking only about the Portuguese gambit. How did Pratchett put it? A collection that makes one ponder the viability of razing the planet and starting again from bacterium?

If we move Bb5 that initiates a pawn war on c6 that they win. We'll then face a choice as to whether we want to retreat that bishop or start defending the queen. Bb5 is a trade of a pawn and a bishop for one pawn. It's a terrible move. https://lichess.org/editor/rn1qkbnr/p3pppp/2p5/1B6/6b1/8/PPPP1PPP/RNBQK1NR_w_KQkq_- Added Space fucked around with this message at 02:09 on Jul 14, 2017 |

Yep, we're forked. So we have to make the same move we should have made last turn, only now it's going to cost us a bishop. Good job idiots. f3 Added Space fucked around with this message at 16:59 on Jul 15, 2017 |

Going against the grain and saying Nc3 to get that piece moving. Casting at this point is just ceding initiative.

I just had to share this Chess by Post game I played. My opponent was oddly defensive while my Queen's pawn rampaged across the board capturing four pieces, resulting in this state on move 23. What a brave soldier.

I'm concerned that leaves our knight out on a limb, and two of the legal moves involve placing the king right next to it. Most likely they'll go Kb7, which makes it difficult for the knight to escape. At best it's a neutral move imo. Rxd7

I'm going to premptively point out we absolutely have to go Rxd7 next move. Otherwise they go Qxd1 and we're in trouble.
