Today a 9 year old kid slammed his elbow into my dick while I was clearing appetizer plates and the parents complained to the manager because I yelled "OW MY DICK" Then as a follow up the kitchen ducked up their meals, twice. And they tried to claim that I did it intentionally as revenge for getting hit in the dick. Classic front of house.

Just got racked by Easter European tourists last night. Which means I made my usual 20 % on most of my night but then got an average of 3% on four hundred dollars worth of sales. That's the way the dice land sometimes.

As soon as I fell asleep I immediately dreamt that my alar, hadn't gone off and that I was three hour late for my close, and my coworkers had just let three hours worth of tables Build up in my section and all the customers were furious at the delay and the fact that they were all squeezed into my section. Then I woke up in a panic and my nap was not restful at all. This week also marks the anniversary of me working 75 hours a week between my two jobs. Upside: I'm almost done paying off my credit card and saving up for a new car. Then I can stop doing this to myself.

I live in a university city, so when school is back we get noticeably busier. The kitchen staff we hired over the summer was not ready for this weekend, and is probably not ready for the next 3 months. It was crash central.

Holy poo poo the hits just keep on coming tonight. It's half price appy night and the day shift portioned all the pounds of wings at 12 ounces. What is happening. Edit: update: they were portioned while frozen so they were portioned as 12 ounces frozen instead of 16 ounce thawed. Mezzanon fucked around with this message at 04:51 on Sep 6, 2017 |

Good news in the world of my work! We just cut the rest of the serving staff, and half the kitchen because it's pretty dead. Then the phone rings and one of the dishwashers takes a reservation for 9:45pm (we close at 11 pm) for 20 people. "They said they'd be out by 11:00!" Here we go!

I remind them we close at 11:00 pm. 9:55pm: still just 3 people. I ask what the occasion is and I am told one of the group is going to Australia. I ask if they are planning on putting everything on one bill, or if they are planning on separate bills. Answer "I dunno" 10:05pm 5 out of 20 people are here. Nobody is ready to order. 10:15pm: 11 people are here, they would like to wait for the whole group to order. I am told probably separate bills. I ask people to stay in the seats they are in so I can keep track of bills. 10:20 all 20 people are here. Beverages are ordered. I mention that we close at 11:00 10:25: everybody plays a quick game of musical chairs despite me specifically asking that they not. 10:30 food is ordered. 23 items for 20 people split into 17 bills. The kitchen, fuelled by rage makes this food so fast I am literally astonished. 11:15: I mention that we close at 11:00 11:45: people start paying, and the bills are an even split of people tipping a dollar and saying "you didn't seem like you were happy to serve us" and tipping 65% and saying "we are so sorry if we had known you closed at 11 we wouldn't have let our friend make the reso" Midnight: I finish payments, bussing, and get cashed out.

Holy poo poo I feel incredible, here's a list of things I have had time for during the last month: - my hobbies - cooking - eating vegetables - restful sleep - sex with my girlfriend - time with friends - the gym - road trips - time with family - time to pet my cats Don't overwork yourself, I was insanely close to hitting the wall and burning out, I cannot believe how much better I feel about life (even if I sometimes miss the extra cash money)

Picked up a day shift today and when I walk in I get told that there’s a reso for 25 at 3:00 pm. Sure I can handle that. 15 kids 10 adults. Then I get told they pre-ordered the food for the kids, sure even better. 3:00 pm hits, 40 people walk in and say “we are the reservation” Our dining room seats 45 max, so booking it off for 25 was a problem. Also they brought a sheet cake and yell at the manager when he tells them there is a cake fee for bringing your own desserts. I tell them I don’t think I have room for a group of 40 and the alpha bitch just goes “you WILL accommodate us, we are BRINGING you business.” Lady the restaurant is full and I have a twenty minute wait list Anyways, we end up seating 12 of them in the bar and 28 in the restaurant, the pre-ordered pizza comes out and also 20 people want to order additional food and beverages. Two hours later they want the pre-ordered food split between certain people and also for me to combine the bills of certain moms with certain children with certain dads. Everybody is telling me jersey numbers because they’re a sports team but none of the kids are wearing jerseys. What a gently caress show. Luckily I keep insanely detailed notes so I could split all of this bullshit.
