i had a friend in LA that stole a bunch of oranges from the csun campus (we went at midnight and picked em when nobody was looking) and he made something like 50 bottles of orange wine. it turned out alright

i mean sure you can ferment oranges and drink it but that's not what a winery means when they say "you should try our orange wine"

I remember Speyburn 10 being like $15 bucks at a Bay Area grocer store 20 years ago. Good value for the price back then.

Mr. Nice! posted:looking that up that sounds like a sweet wine, which i do hope you enjoy. that's not my preference, though. yeah it tastes like raisins, in wine form. my wife got me the bottle for my birthday because i like port, sherry, and sauternes

i had never had it before but apparently its produced pretty close to my Ancestral Homeland

yeah if you like a sweet wine, it seems like a perfect one. now that i know you like ports and sherries, it makes perfect sense. after a certain point of sweetness, sweet things start to taste dirty to me. i can't drink sweet tea made here in the south. i had a diabetic friend as a young adult. he had sugar pills, and to most people they were similar in taste to a sugar cube with slight pill flavor. for me they tasted like crushed up aspirin.
