Synchro isn't inherently busted, the issue is that there were some pretty busted Synchros released from the very beginning, which kind of spoiled the first impression.

Yes, come join us in this actually-decent-for-free-to-play actually-decent-YGO game that I'm still going to call a godless hellscape because it's more entertaining that way. Edit: Just don't spend any actual money on it, the real-money prices are loving absurd. $0.99 for a pack of 3 cards, most of which are probably garbage. Or, if you spend $30, you get a whole 30 packs of garbage, which might include one decent card. Honestly, they throw gems at you at the beginning so as long as you focus on one archetype/set, you can usually get a really decent deck together without too much trouble. Just buy a character's structure deck with your first 500 gems because the deck they start you with is loving garbage. (Legendary Warriors (Joey) is the best general-purpose one, you can still buy the others later. Jaden's in particular is the easiest way you're going to find for a while to cheese 'fusion monster' and 'effect damage' objectives.)

You have a real good farming combo deck, you can hit for like 10k with one attack, usually with something like Gravekeeper's Vassal for the effect damage bonus. Takes some work to put together, though. I'm mostly just using my Blue-Eyes with Kaiba's Beatdown and Riryoku to hit for 5-6k, myself, since it still works pretty well even if you can't combo. IDK who has good skills in GX, though.

I'm playing Duel Links again for some reason. Kaiba's complete lack of chill is still amazing. Not new or creative, but consistent, and I get to hear Seto freak the gently caress out every time I attack with BEWD or activate EC. Considering whether to try to cram in another Vanguard somewhere, and/or replace BE Solid with another Dragon Spirit (or WattailDragon/Rabidragon, to keep Heavy Starter?  )Edit: Hahaha, holy poo poo, I just got Wall of Disruption from my first SoK pack. Double posting to say that there are few things I've done in Duel Links more satisfying than letting Fur Hire players fill up their field and deck themselves out because they can't get over a Cosmo Brain. Next Duel Links big box got leaked. Hype for the return of my least favorite archetype of the Synchro era. The only solace in being beaten by Blackwing will be that the dumb bastard spent hundreds of dollars on pretend cardboard. Edit: I'm gonna end up building a Reptilliane antimeta deck just because of how much I hate those birds. Finally got my Galaxy Blue Eyes deck working properly with Trick Up The Sleeve. Now I'm being a dumbshit in trying to come up with dumb techs. My favorite so far is 1x Exploder Dragon and 1x Debunk. Exploder Dragon as a man-eater bug that can also suicide (or just be sacced by GB for a BEWD), and Debunk for hand traps and also Vampires and also Platelet Canada. "I had a really cool theory about Kuriboh, actually." "Oh yeah?" "Yeah, but it was..."  "Debunked."

Still wanna make the Grandpa's Cards deck of my dreams. Edit: Expensive and dumb but hilarious idea for a Cosmo Blue Eyes OTK deck: Skill: Trick Up The Sleeve 1x Cosmo Brain 3x BEWD 3x Dragon Spirit of White 2x Bingo Machine, Go! 3x White Stone of Legend 2x Cards of Consonance 2x Silver's Cry 1x Enemy Controller 1x Hey, Trunade! 1x Burst Stream of Destruction 1x Champion's Vigilance Extra: 1x Stardust Dragon 3x Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon 1x Giganticastle The goal is to Galaxy Eyes, BEWD, Burst Stream, then Synchro BEWD out for something that can attack. (Or sac it for Enemy Controller, or just leave it on board and Cry out a Dragon Spirit, or what-have-you.) Only thing that makes it expensive compared to my current build is the weird consistency play, using 3x Stone and 2x CoC over things like Birthright or a third Bingo Machine. Sideboard (whenever that becomes relevant? Working on a dumb Ancient Gear build in DL while I wait for the new structure deck to drop. Crowler - Middle Age Mechs 2x Ancient Gear Beast 2x Ancient Gear Golem 3x Ancient Gear Knight 3x Sergeant Electro 3x Twin-Barrel Dragon ---- 1x Ancient Gear Castle 1x Enemy Controller 2x Soul Exchange 1x Soul Release 1x Pulse Mines 1x Sakuretsu Armor Soul Release is a Meta call, and I'm kinda tempted to drop the Sakuretsu for a Ruin or a Treacherous. Maybe squeeze a Monarchs Awaken or a Forbidden Chalice in there, too?

I do like Pulse because it stops Heroes better than ECon. Also means I maybe don't have to get the Widespread, because I actually still need the Soul Exchanges and Sgt. Electro. (I'm running Mausoleum of the Emperor and Assault Dog as filler.)
