Yeah in a couple iterations Holmes is the immediate first suspect by the police inspector Lestrade. Holmes calls him a dumbass in one book. He def works with cops mostly because they are the ones with the title that lets them uphold law, the only power that he doesn't have. All the dude would have to do is open a chain of escape rooms. Varying degrees of difficulty, anyone who solves the hardest one can get a little plaque that says "I'm as smart as the Batman"

He gets to constantly design new puzzles and show off how clever he is and doesn't have to worry about catching a batarang to the teeth for his troubles.

The character design of Jack from Mass Effect 2 and 3 is so poo poo and has aged very poorly. Any time a director designs a character to be scantily clad and tries to come up with a good reason for it, it always fails.

Museum robberies, casino heists, and theft of artefacts from the highly secure mansions and vaults of the wealthy are pretty common mystery/procedural plots though. There's often an incidental murder but not always, and the high-profile theft is still usually the inciting incident.
