I read an article that said something to the effect of money being finite. (okay, more precisely, it said to spend money wisely because "you won't be able to buy everything") How accurate is this?

Do the upgrades to Vamp Dash drain % also include subsequent damage done by other party members?

There's no way for me to swap Luigi and Mario's starting positions, is there?

I wish skill trees worked by toggle instead of having to reset and respec from scratch. I mean, it's functionally the same thing and much less of a hassle to actually do.

If I do badly in a level and perfect it in the washing machine later, do I get the coins that make up the difference? Or do I need to perfect it the first time through in order to get the most money? And if so, is there a way to roll back if I find out I went past the perfect turn count?

Is there any reason to go back to a level and perfect it? Also I'm getting really annoyed trying to make a Mario/Yoshi/Rabbid Mario team here at the start of 4-7; I just want to loving swap Rabbid Mario and Yoshi's starting positions, geez! That's the difference between boomdashing one buckler versus three!

Looks like the first DLC wave surprise-launched. Does it have a lot of content? I understand Ubisoft's not had a good track record with DLC, but I enjoyed this game. If anyone here can confirm that there's a decent number of additional missions to do (I don't think anyone in this thread cares about the extra weapons) I'll take the plunge.

Yeah, I realize the bigger one drops next year, but I was willing to spring now if the current DLC was good enough. It sounds like there's only 8 new challenges and 5 coop maps, though? That's... a pathetically small amount. Someone please report back on how meaty these 8 challenges are; I'd like to know if they're substantially long or if they're like... those 1 turn challenges.Piquai Souban posted:It’s funny, but schlepping through the overworld again is my big purchase barrier. Will spring at the bigger update though. Fortunately, I believe we know in advance that these new challenges are located in the secret area of each world!

Fellatio del Toro posted:Last turn of a Toad escort mission and Peach turns for a reactive shot and shotguns Toad right in the face High five I anticipated her using a reactive shot and positioned her properly but an enemy pushed or bounced her, I forget which, and her new position boomed Toadette. This was in the final challenge of world 3. Incidentally, I think challenge 3-10 is also the ideal mission length, so if anyone can confirm if the DLC challenges are around that long, it'll help me make a decision about buying them.

SeANMcBAY posted:What kind of weapons should I have priority in buying? Money seems kinda tight and I don’t want to possibly get screwed over on something and have to grind. You can respec the skill tree for free at any time so there's never a reason to have spare orbs, except the autofill seems to like wasting points on the stupid extra coin power which is kind of a waste IMO. I always make sure Mario has at at least the current or previous tier of weapons. For the rest of the members I purchase the most recent tier of weapons if I realize they'd be good for a particular map. (Usually I realize they're good for a particular map by using them and noticing that they'd actually be really effective if I'd upgraded them more). The descriptions of the locked weapons tell you when those will be unlocked, so you'll have a good idea of whether or not you're wasting money on a weapon that will be obsoleted the following level.

Wildtortilla posted:I thought that was the solution and set myself up twice to be attacked and all that happened was I got slammed into the ground. Feels kinda cheap for the solution to hinge on a random chance. At least my gut instinct was correct. Now I only have to navigate this dumb world map and find the challenge again. That's actually kinda odd because the challenge explicitly says that there's a 100% chance of the effect triggering. I've never had that problem in any of the challenges that require it.

The key to that one is to juggle him in the center with a chain of overwatch abilities, probably from Luigi and Mario. By the end he should be weak enough to take care of before you come to any serious harm. I don't even recall who my rabbid was but it was probably Ruigi taking care of the small fry.
