they made a big deal signing up to 'budget responsibility rules', in which they promised not to spend any more money than the national party to appear economically credible. the income tax thing is pure ratfucking - the current government passed tax cuts into law a little while ago, they're due to come into effect next year or something. national is claiming that labour's proposed reversal of tax cuts is actually an income tax rise. dreadful stuff.
