Serena is still bunning in her oven. Djokovic and Wawrinka shut down their seasons. Murray's hip is still broken. And while Nadal is seeded #1, Murray had 5 more ranking points than Federer and Federer ended up in Nadal's half, so we won't get a repeat Fedal final like the Australian Open. Murray withdrew 2 days before the tourney like a bitch rear end oval office, ruining the draw.

In other words, nobody will watch this trash garbage, and Federer will win his 20th slam at age 36. But he definitely doesn't dope.

Federer: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/08/24/magazine/usopen-federer-nadal-backhand-wonder-year.html

Also, here's a somewhat gruesome picture of Petra Kvitova's injured hand, right after the knife attack and now, all healed up. It's pretty amazing that she's back out there playing tennis at a high level.

For some reason I can't get excited about Zverev at all. I just don't really enjoy watching him play though I can't articulate why that is, I guess some intangibles in the aesthetics of his game. From the youngsters I easily prefer Thiem and Kyrgios over him.

I had forgotten how garbage the US Open radio is compared to the other slams.

I'm sure they'll play that advert for a hospital again.

e: get rid of the awful main commentator and let Robbie Koenig do the whole drat thing.

I've got a sweet parlay going. 5 legs are pretty easy, Cibulkova/Konta/Stephens winning and Muguruza/Wozniacki winning in straights.

The last leg is Sharapova beating Halep, which she's done all 6 times they've played. But Sharapova has only played 1 match since her doping ban and Halep made the semifinals in Toronto and finals in Cincinnati. :ohdear:

If I becoming a degenerate gambler, blame Mayweather vs. McGregor.

edit: Konta in the 3rd and down a break though. I thought Krunic could be a tough match if she plays well, but I thought if I went to a third, Konta's quality would come though. :negative:

Did you see those matches? Halep collapsed like a bad soufflé in both of them. She didn't even turn up against Mugu. Her confidence must be shot.

Yeah, that's why I made the bet. She's a headcase. But Sharapova could just lose the match on unforced errors.

Ask me how to run a good team into the ground.
30 minutes to play less than 5 games, Sharapova-Halep has been fun so far. Wish I wasn't going out so I could keep watching

Kind of a bad break for Halep to draw her in the first round though.

Turns out Sharapova doesn't need drugs to beat Halep.

This might be for the best for Halep, the looming #1 ranking has been nothing but a noose for her

Halep was one of eight players who had a chance to claim the WTA World No. 1 ranking at the end of the U.S. Open, as she entered the tournament just five points behind current World No. 1 Karolina Pliskova. The last No. 2 women's seed to lose in the first round of the U.S. Open was Andrea Jaeger in 1981. Sharapova moves into the second round to face Hungary's Timea Babos.

Osaka over Kerber was the only underdog pick I made for today's parlay. You could see it coming from a mile away.

The other legs were Karlovic, Gasquet, Vandeweghe and Keys, but the first 3 are on outside courts and this loving rain. :argh:
