Goddamn, that felt like the final. I wanted Kvitova to win and it's too bad she blew that tiebreak, but Venus was phenomenal.

Today's matches so far have been garbage and not just because of who won.

Seriously. Hope Fed/Delpo makes up for it.

If anyone but Venus wins the tournament I will be disappointed.

C'mon Keys, no one wants to see Sloane Stephens win something.

They're billing it as Offense vs. Defense but to me that sounds like code for Offense vs. Boring

gently caress off Pam, the coaches are trying to watch the match what is wrong with you

I think offense can be boring too to be honest. Ostapenko bored the crap out of me in the RG final cause her game was so one-note and monotonous. Aggression needs to be measured, otherwise it risks veering into reckless ball-bashing.

Sloane may be defensive-minded but I find her game - the movement and strokes - very aesthetic and enjoyable to watch.

Yeah, I loved watching Ostapenko because I felt like the few incredible winners was worth the monotony and frustration. So to each their own I guess, but Sloane played some great points in this match I will agree

The worst was that horrible interlude where they talked to Billie Jean King and Emma Stone about the battle of the sexes movie during the effing match

Thankfully on my Eurosport stream we were spared that particular atrocity.

It reminds me though that last year they (not sure who exactly - ESPN?) experimented with mid-match player interviewers. I remember Coco did one. Did they scrap that this year? It was awful.

They did coach mid-game interviews, which were slightly better but still awful

Nice match. One-sided for sure, but much better than yesterday's. Props to Anderson for playing hard till the end.
