If you use Facebook and you are not a member of a local buy/sell group I urge you to join one. The scamming and blatantly stolen items for sale make the experience incredibly entertaining. Some dude is losing his poo poo because he bought a "Snap On" toolbox and when he got it home he discovered it was a Harbor Freight box with a Snap On sticker. And the only reason I'm not shaming him is his sister is a friend of mine.

My brother tried to sell his car on one of those groups, he GIS'ed other cars that were clearly not his car and tried to make it look better than it was. He then posted about how some guy was trying to give him poo poo for it.

That's hilarious.
The question is: was it advertised as a "Snap On", or just as "toolbox" and pictures just happened to show the logo? Is that fraud, then? Also, if you can't tell the difference...

He deserves everything he gets for that.
Seriously, I would just walk away if I went to go look at a car and it's not the pictured car from the ad, because who knows what else the seller is lying about.

NICE! Our second started Preschool yesterday and my wife is home with our 2 1/2 month old (third) right now. Three is a handful, but the other two are older and play together well so it helps tremendously. Enjoy sleepy snuggly little baby. It is the best drat thing :kimchi:

The best group I am a part of is a new neighborhood near mine that is heavily saturated with ~Millenials~ which I know I will catch a lot of flack for labeling them here (I am also apparently a millenial). The things they complain about is incredible. I can basically brine the meats I smoke with their tears. As a group they refuse to be adults and speak one on one with people over minor conflict, there is public shaming, and a general lack of owning up to personal responsibility.

Wife got us tickets to an RWB Showcase & Tech event this evening at the local Beetle dealer. I guess Nakai San was in town this past weekend building a white 964. Anything specific I should get pictures of or ask? It is a tech evening as well. So pumped for this.

Can someone explain the thing where people write up an advert and do their photos, then take screenshots of them and post those up instead?

Could be an instinct to make it much harder for whatever text they write to get scraped.

Having heard all the cars that are getting water damage totaled by Harvey, I started thinking of having a bugout plan for my car specifically. Like if I know bad weather is coming, how quickly could I store my car somewhere else.

I think the only disaster I'd face is a forest fire (almost happened last fall). That'd be a tough one unless you had some sort of fire-rate structure. You'd really have to remove them from the area in that case.

I see that on local buy and sells with all age groups, though. The "olds" just usually do it at the local dive-bar/coffee shop/McDonald's. All I hear is them bitching about kids not wanting to work, as I'm talking to a 17-year old who's working 3 jobs for the summer to pay for college.

I once bought a cpu off someone on craigslist who somehow erased the technical details printed on a low end chip, and then put it in a higher end cpu box. I looked at it, thought it was weird it was missing but thought maybe they didn't do it anymore and jokingly said "heh heh youre not trying to scam me right?" and still bought it like a fool. I am still salty about it 5 years later.
