My head canon is that Ryu is the new overseer of the Hunger Games, and with his new power/authority/contacts, amassed an even bigger and bloodier crowd to compete for him. He'll fight the survivor of the bigger competition for a true challenge he has been seeking, beyond the sterile realm of street fighting.
