According to stories in Spain today, Arsenal fans can thank/blame Messi for Ozil remaining at Arsenal this year. He was proposed by the Barca board to be Neymar's replacement but Messi vetoed the deal. Probably would've clinched Arsenal the net spend title, that's a shame.

The international games should be done during the summer and just get them over with, would mean players would be match fit for the start of the season and if needed could realistically have a small winter break

Danny Simpson, let go for a million quid because he didn't fit into 'arry's plans to play a 3-5-2 at QPR. We gave up on the 3-5-2 after three games and got relegated, the next year Simpson gets a PL winner's medal.

reading that made me sad that Wenger didn't bow out when he had that perfect opportunity two years ago. Even though he's a loving idiot, I still don't want to see him lose his dignity. he's an old man in the house where he spent the majority of his life but he's had a couple of falls and then there was that scare with his heart medication and he's really not competent to live alone there anymore but his kids aren too scared to force him out into a home and he's going to trip in the shower or spend a weekend on the kitchen floor or have a stroke or something next year I don't know who the 'kids' are in this laboured and bad analogy

I guess the way transfer fees have inflated, you can never be certain if it's opening yourself up to get fleeced, but if it's a choice between that and letting him go on a free, the former definitely seems preferable.
