What is more likely is you trading 3 of that stairs movement and its tackle zones for ALL of the opposing pieces movement and tackle zones for anywhere from a few turns to the rest of the game.

Unless you studman it like a real man anyway. But at that point you abandon dumb thoughts like "is it optimal?"

Also there is an outside chance of wrecking something really precious to someone which is worth more than any amount of movement.
