voters elected a majority of democrats to the house and senate and also elected a democratic president and it's somehow entirely their fault that the pols sat around with their thumbs up their asses for two years until they got voted out. you have no idea how politics works and are just using voters as a scapegoat for lovely politicians not enacting policies that would hurt their corporate donors.

golly gosh we just don't have the power to pass bills because of those mean republicans. what's that? abolish the filibuster? well, uh, gee, hmm, but NORMS

they didn't care about/want to actually pass any reforms or they would have ditched the filibuster day 1. the republicans were just a convenient excuse.

here's a question for skex: do you think obama and the dems in 2008-2010, after the election, did anything wrong? anything at all?

Remember that time Kamala Harris's office opposed releasing nonviolent offenders from jail because then they couldn't be used as prison labor and then when that blew up she pretended to be shocked and appalled her lawyers made that argument? She's a snake who if elected will do anything she can to stymie reform while spouting flowery language about how much she supports it. I expect her to be pushed heavily.

She had a shitload of cop support in 2014 despite the fact that they rebelled against her in 2010 due to her not pursuing the death penalty for a guy who killed a cop. Tells you everything you need to know.

You can fault the Democratic party for that in 2016 certainly, but I don't think you can fault Obama for thinking it was a decent idea in the midst of the birther controversy and everything. Those are two different issues.

the fact that the birther conspiracy was so persistent to the point that obama finally felt the need to release his birth certificate should have been a pretty big hint that obama's vaunted logic and reason were so much piss in the wind against trump

what HA is proposing is typical dem thinking in that rather than opposing a powerful, malignant ideology (racism in this case) he thinks the dems should instead embrace it and turn it against the republicans. it's cowardice masquerading as cleverness and will undeniably fail.

I think the Russia stuff is more important than socialists / leftists think but it should be used as apart of a grander narrative of why our democracy has been crumbling due to both internal and external oligarchs and corruption. Russia Is Bad, therefore we should reform our electoral system to make sure hostile outside groups and internal capitalists can't subvert it at every turn

i don't think russia narratives should be pushed at all because it's far more likely to be used as a tool to enact the red scare 2.0 on activists (see: facebook shutting down an antifa counterprotest page as "fake russian activity") than as a way to promote election security

seeing as how its utterly impossible to form any kind of conclusion about kavanaughs "alleged" sexual assaults or put his nomination on hold until he's investigated more maybe they should just vote against putting him on the supreme court and save the position for someone who didnt have a 200000 dollar debt mysteriously wiped out right before his nomination or multiple accusations of being a sex pest

I think Democrats doing that bullshit a second time would be the slow death of the party, especially if Manchin gets to vote for Kavanaugh with their blessing. While they aren't as pissed off as leftists regarding the plundering of this country, even "moderates" are angry as hell at Trump and his feckless party. There's absolutely no interest from anyone for another round of "let's move on and hug it out :-)" while the entire GOP is still gargling blood and calling for the death of their enemies.

The Republican identity has been laid bare for all to see. There is no more bipartisanship or decorum and the voters understand that. You dont bury the hatchet with people that still want to kill you. The Kavanaugh process is a pure show or power that they are not beholden to any public interest and any Democrat that still wants to work with them is unfit for office

them doing it the first time was also the slow death of the party
