The main thing that griped me about Watchmen the move was the fact that it totally missed the reason for the 'end of the world' denouement - the squid (I don't know if they could have made it work on screen but still) is meant to be completely outré and bring together humanity against a possible common foe, Doc Manhattan is an American Asset, just saying oops he's gone rogue sorry our bad is not going to defuse international tensions like at all.

I actually preferred the movie's version a lot. The space squid is some nonsense on a lot of levels, like why anyone would believe it's a thing, or why they were able to make a psychic thing at all and their use for it is to murder people. It introduces another supernatural element into a story that was pretty well built on only having one of those things, only in a way that manages to make even less sense.

Making Dr. Manhattan play the bad guy works really well thematically and is even halfway believable within the story.

Latin@ is cute visually and if you make it rhyme with "quinoa" it's probably super offensive but I can't see pronouncing it any other way.

also it turns out furries are just a kink and we all needed perspective

My favorite theater:

It's actually open when that was taken. I saw Bill and Ted there growing up, and Dredd when it came out. The place is always empty and I wonder who's using it to launder money.

chris nolan hired some real scientists for interstellar, and apparently the representation of the black hole and the visual distortion as they enter it is the most accurate rendition of one ever produced, at least with our current knowledge of physics

bad student, who doesn't get the point of the exercise
bad professor, who doesn't conduct an experiment ("do this one in your head right now") and carry out the appropriate action (fail him if he's cheating, point him towards advanced study if he's a genius)

overall i am just really disappointed with the way that scientific rigor was portrayed in The Day After Tomorrow

that scene in the day after tomorrow made me super duper angry forever

if youve ever studied math you know that the point of the math test is to write out the method

if he is doing this poo poo in his head that's dope, write it all the gently caress down because THAT IS THE POINT OF THE EXAM YOU IDIOT THE PROFESSOR KNOWS THE loving ANSWERS ALREADYT
