I actually saw that happen to a comic once. It started out with a main character who was otherwise a normal human, it posted about 10 pages, fell into development hell for about a year, and then when it started updating again the character had cat ears and a tail for literally no reason. It has since fallen back into development hell and I have lost all reason to care about it ever coming back.

Paranatural updates so often and every update has so much going on that it can be a day or two late, regularity is more of a concern if you're posting like once or twice a week and there's enough space for people to forget about you if you miss one

Again, that’s the thing that boggles my mind and is starting to burn me out on Paranatural. So much happens on each page... yet nothing really seems to happen in the comic. I think like the last year of Paranatural in updates has covered the span of about ten minutes in real time.

In other news: Monster Pulse ends its most harrowing chapter yet on a hard-earned happy note. The next chapter also marks the start of the final arc of the comic, which Magnolia estimates will take about a year to a year and a half to wrap up.

Yeah that's been known for years. Her debut in the comic is her and Red releasing the ghost that becomes Greenie. Like it's all but explictly confirmed that she's the reason that at the very least Bina, Julie, West, and Nate all got ghost'd. But yeah, a large part of this plot came about from Nancy and her mom just being unable to properly communicate and deal with an unprecedentedly traumatic event.

As someone who once woke up from a medically induced coma in a compromised state from a traumatic illness surrounded by doctors doing all sorts of weird poo poo to me without telling me what was going on, I understand how irrationally furious Nancy was a literally everyone around her because I was right there too at one point, and I'm a grown rear end man.

I admit I laughed at it very briefly when I first saw it because I have a hosed up sense of humour and anything Loss-related will earn a sensible chuckle out of me. But you got to admit, it is incredibly in keeping for Tim Buckley to find a way to get in on the joke by loving up in a way that just leaves people confused and baffled. It’s Brandon Sanderson and Dan Wells’ writing podcast. Howard often feels like he’s there because he’s their friend (or more specifically, he’s a fellow Mormon writer living in Utah with them) more than anything, the fact that he writes a comic is often secondary. You’re right though, he often gives poor or baffling advice compared to the other hosts. Luckily in the last couple of years they’ve brought on a more diverse crew of panelist to balance him out a little more.

mine would be a well-researched multicultural post-apocalyptic thing with lots of ruin porn, very dark but with a light edge and a good sense of hope. giant monsters or ghosts or characters transforming into cool creatures would be a plus, but preferably just one fantastic element done well rather than a kitchen-sink approach. the characters could be human or furry, it doesn't really matter to me! the whole thing would be plotted out and scripted from the beginning for maximum satisfaction. also give me a saturated colour palette and that sweet stylish ultraviolence. yes. yes. i want to see people explode into gobs of ectoplasm and writhing tendrils. that's what i'm really here for.

how about you

Kinda sounds like you're describing Bad Bad Things. Maybe not, but who knows.

My "Impossible Webcomic Dream" would have been to actually get that final promised story arc of 70-Seas that it ended on a teaser for after Psych just gave up and moved on Latchkey Kingdom. Because that would have been the perfect resolution to the story and everyone's character arcs... and it just ended on the doorstep of any actual payoff and catharsis. Then again, 70-Seas always had trouble sticking the landing with its individual chapter endings, so it was actually kind of appropriate that it completely whiffed it's final bow too.

I also would have loved to have seen whatever the hell The Awakened's endgame was going to be before the author went and uprooted it and started again like three times over the course of a decade. Because it was going places before that latest reset. She says she wants to finish the story in some capacity, so who knows, I might actually see it one day, but for now it'll always be the one that got away to me, because it was one of the first webcomics I found via SA in one of the older versions of this hosed up thread.
