Recovery of an MMO Junkie/Recommendation of the Virtual World had a pretty good first episode. There were a few wierd pacing moments in how it skipped ahead. And the virtual world is super-generic but I guess that's kinda the point.

The only reason I brought up gender ratio is because I usually avoid a show if it looks like it has a cast intended for gently caress/Marry/Kill. I don't see why having fewer female characters prevents this.

There's aspects of the 2003 anime I preferred to Brotherhood. I liked their treatment of Lust, I liked that the bad guy's final comeuppance isn't 'being beaten in a fight', I liked Pride vs Mustang.

Pride failing to understand the love of his 'son', Dante failing to understand Gluttony's love for Lust, etc etc. This I thought was in the end more effectively and subtly done than how Father was finally defeated, and having the Voice of God dictate the theme of the series to him.

It's kinda dumb that the entire Saber arc across two series hinges on no one telling her 'hey, it turned out alright in the end, erasing yourself from existence would probably have made things worse'. The whole 'pfft, real kings don't give a poo poo about other people' angle was pretty lol too.

The one episode of old Captain Tsubasa I watched was a lot of fun, so if the remake does a more condensed version of the story, with better animation (i.e. a Guru guru) then I'm very much in favour. I'm sorry YggdrasilTM finds multi-player team-up bicycle kicks 'boring'.
