I don't understand people's issues with the frisbees. It's by far the easiest part of the game - just steer the dang disc. You don't need to drop it in or anything, just touch the net and you win.

Nobody ever tells you how to steer the dang disc

Nobody even tells you that you can hit the - key to get a diagram of the controller mappings appropriate to whatever it is you're doing at the time

This game is really bad at telling you how to play it

Wait so there are three Aqua Golf prizes, one for hitting the walls with Lara, one for sinking all the holes with target flags on them, what's the third for?

I just love that putting the vinegar in the cabinet is literally the player admitting he has no idea what he's doing, and Lara taking notice and actually solving the puzzle. I love this game but that sequence is so, so bad.

just did the nine holes of cheekybeak peak and it really did a good job at hammering home how unpolished this game is-- like i think most of the course was sloped in some way but it doesn't really show, so where it looks like you're golfing down a straight away the cursor keeps flying all over the place because of all the different elevations

this game is weird

The courses are more-or-less flat, I think maybe the cursor was moving like that because the paths would end up hitting trees that you couldn't see because the camera is not very good.

e: I don't mean to say this game isn't janky and unpolished, because it is

I'm stuck in the murder mystery bit. Someone give me a hint? I have to get the red ball which I'm pretty sure will knock down Dorris's book that will then send her to sleep, and I know it was in a guy's pocket before laundry. I don't have a Laundry Token for the machine and searching the bag on the floor doesn't give me the ball either. I also don't have the green ball or any idea where it is. I have a bottle of Vinegar I've done nothing with, and I've done the Dinner stuff and the Chamomile Soda. I've also replaced the Bell with a working one but I don't know why.

There's a shelf next to Lara. Interact with it. No, there's no reason why you'd know to do this.

Y'all been pumping points into the spin stat not even knowing how to use it lol

To be fair the only way you'd know about the spin buttons is if you hit the minus button while teeing up, and nobody tells you about the minus button.

Do I do anything with this Cacher's Legendary Treasure? The cacher guy at the soda bar doesn't want it.

You trade it for an item of great value in Blue Moon Dunes.

I don't think it's possible to free the genie, you guys

Like what even would the player use the third wish for, and why would you want to live in a world without a rainbow boom box?

Dr Cheeto

Yeah, you throw a grand to the boom box girl and she tells the genie to give you one of her wishes. You can do this twice. The first time he upgrades your wellworn drivers, the second time he upgrades your wellworn irons. It increases the degree to which you can shape your shots to a pretty crazy level, basically makes trees a total nonissue, your lobbed shots lobbier, and your straight shots straighter.

I mean the pro set is tempting but a bad tree can ruin a hole for me. How many strokes does +15 yds *really* save me?

I keep coming up like 2 inches short on the old man's putting challenge at the country club Tidy Greens(?)

You have to go from tee box to sinking it in six putts.

I'm holding the trigger to give the ball some extra roll, accounting for wind, and pretty much maxing the power on each stroke.

Every time the ball stops just shy of dropping. What am I missing?

One of the triggers generally assigned to approach shots seriously increases the distance you can putt

Aside from that, idk, try to stay on the fairway as much as possible.

I just aim for bunkers or rough and chip it from there. If you land on the green you can't use the flagpole as a backboard.

Honestly I'm better at accounting for wind than I am accounting for green. There's always the focus shot if you're desperate to save a stroke, too.

How the gently caress are you supposed to use the long driver to hit 300+ yards? I'm catching the marker at the absolute leftmost of the first four bars, catching it at the rightmost of the fifth bar, then sinking it in the middle of the purple bit. How do I use this thing?

Nail every orange-highlighted bar while it fills, then mash A like crazy for the large orange bar while it sinks, then nail the center of the purple strike zone.

Are you ever able to use this again after this event? I wasn't able to or didn't know how. Not that I needed it, really.

Nah, the long driver was originally conceived of something that you'd actually bring onto a real course, but it was cut as the dev realized it was tiresome to use.

Keeping purity in the middle ("essentially pure") is most important IMO, power is second, accuracy and ability are cool for making shots easier, spin is nice sometimes but it's possible to have too much spin.
