i played 2H last time w/ magic pawns, and i ended up getting bored, which apparently is a common experience, so i'm psyched to try the game again. finding a magic sword behind a waterfall and having it be legitimately better than my current weapons was very cool, and something that western ARPGs pretty much never allow for, because of level scaling and balance.

you should do the main quests since exploring the world just means you find a billion groups of goblins/wolves/lizardmen for eterinity + dungeons and towers that are locked until the main quest unlocks them

Thank you I will

some of the sidequests are worth doing and i think they go away after certain story points [whenever you do enough main quests then the duke summons you, that's when all your current sidequests will disappear and u go to the next story point]. like the kill x number of beasts quests you end up doing as you progress, and stuff with the magistrate/babysitting his kid. do not do escort quests under any circumstances.

i did an escort quest with that woman knight who guides you through the first part of the game, because i read that there are certain quests you miss after a certain point in the story, and she charged full on into an ogre and died. next time i play i'm just going to wing it.

also when you get the quest to babysit the magistrates daughter or whatever u should look up a walkthru on how to do it right otherwise you will lock yourself out of an item that gives you a permanent 25% off at all shops/access to the sluttiest armor if you trade it and both are VERY important

oh yeah her's is like the only one that unlocks more stuff. most of them are stupid. you can easily cheese them by dropping one of the teleport markers at the end of the escort, accepting the mission, then teleporting there

Yeah I lost a gather 5 flowers for somebody in your hometown quest when I got to Gran Soren with the hydra head, and I've done like 10 kill x number quests just from doing the main questline so far

This, unless you happen to have a convenient portcrystal near their destination but even then maybe not

If you're worried about not getting everything right in your first playthrough just keep in mind that the game takes like 2 hours to run through casually if you skip sidequests. And the fastest speedrun time is less than 15 minutes

I played this game all the way through way back on PS3 as a 2H warrior. I am trying Strider this time.

Do bows ever feel less useless than they do at the start?

Chain / power shotting stuff in weak points can be powerful and a lot of fun. The overhead volley is good at clearing trash mobs even when you're weak. The free stun move is pretty decent too.

You definitely want a mage with fire boon so you can have it up at all times.

You'll never feel as powerful as a two handed, but there will be situations where you might feel more useful.

Yes. Try Magic Archer if you hate aiming, or Ranger if you want to do huge amounts of raw damage but have to aim.

Anyone who played this as a 2H warrior the whole time, please try it again as anything else, it's much more fun than you thought.

All three hybrid classes are great, but the thing is, so are all the other classes. Even the basic vocations get unique abilities the others don't.

I bought this and Evil Within 2 at the same time, which was the dumbest thing for me to do, because now I can't decide which one to start playing, so I just watch Netflix instead.
