The trailer music since the Disney takeover has really been on point. I like the use of the new themes in the TLJ trailers, and it goes to show how nicely Williams' sequel material fits with the previously existing music.

The guy who sold me the ticket told me that this particular screening was 85% sold out within 45 minutes of the tickets going on sale. I still managed to get a good seat at the top of the theater just slightly off of the center, though.

What was Luke even saying in that trailer? It was mushmouth as gently caress. The furby is out of place, we have the hindsight of both Ewoks and Jar Jar to know better (yes I know it's for kids) but the rest looks ok.

The final scene in the trailer is definitely a fakeout, on the level of Han talking about Jedi over shots of Finn wielding a lightsaber, or Maz saying she's seen the same eyes in different people over shots of Han and Rey. You can tell by the lighting, the outfits, and the hairstyles. Rey's still Luke's daughter, folks.

Got my tickets earlier today for Saturday on opening weekend at around 4pm which is chill. I watched the trailer. Its cool, I'm kinda feeling ambivalent about it, its weird. I didn't really care for Rogue One at all. I hope this new movie is good I guess, I like the director a bunch.

My brother, whom I trust, told me there really wasn't anything too spoilery in the trailer and told me to not be a bitch and just watch it. I gave in on his word, and he was right. Nothing I hadn't speculated on already. Only gonna watch it that one time though, but yeah, consider me

Hate to say it, but this trailer isn't really doing much for me. The fact that so many beats have already been revealed to have been taken straight from ESB and that the fate of a key character (Leia) is already a foregone conclusion has sapped a lot of my excitement. I love the visual element of SW, so it doesn't help that it's clear that the design direction of this trilogy in so many cases is also "take a design from the OT, mix it around a little bit and muddy it up" without actually doing anything interesting or innovative. The new AT-ATs in particular look more and more stupid the more we see of them. I can forgive cribbing so much for the reboot, but not the second instalment. I still have faith that Rian Johnson has made something unusual and interesting within the framework of the standard Star Wars narrative, but my anticipation is growing more tepid the more I see.
