I sincerely apologize for immediately hammering this poor thread with a bunch of VERY on-brand posts, but for a brief moment it was thrilling to be posting about all the obviously dumb things about US soccer with people who understood.

I'm actually finding it very interesting. Please continue.

how does America not have relegation? Where is the jeopardy? Where is the joy of watching Pompey win the FA cup and then nearly getting relegated straight out of the football league

It would go to whoever is running the league charging the fees.

This is America. You can have things, but you have to pay for them and hope the free market selects the best one.

I think this has already been answered, but the US does not have this because sporting culture developed differently in the US. Older US sporting bodies died out in response to the growing amount of professionalism and league founders opted to make leagues a closed shop for sustainability purposes.

Yeah but this is stupid and doesn't encourage dynamic and creative resource management which is allegedly an American concept

Of course it's stupid. Unfortunately the stupid man in charge of MLS is a former NFL exec and doesn't know any better.

It's €10 because professional clubs are subsidizing the cost. Youth soccer is not run by professional clubs in the US (for the most part).

no our junior leagues are cheap because they're played on school fields or in a local park and maybe have a ref who is 15 years old and paid a fiver
