She lost control of herself before drinking it, though. She was willingly telling Monkey intel she had while simultaneously thinking "why am I saying this? What the hell"

KNEEL BEFORE THE WICKED KING!
If I remember my Chinese Zodiac right (maybe) then he's the computer nerd and Snake would be the gambler.

Personally, I find Dragon to be the most forgettable of the cast so far. Everyone else has something to them, but Dragon's one thing he's done is "stand on a building, see Headless Snake and... do nothing."

I guess now that this part of the story is over, I can mention that the book seems to put it down to Dog's poison, in that once the venom boosted her mental capacity to peak, she was no longer able to maintain a mindset without empathy.

Unfortunately, she didn't have the social skills necessary to be part of an alliance, so she just wound up being very bad at being a lone wolf.

That's certainly what Niwatori thought herself, but I'm not entirely sure. Since Monkey's skill is "transmutation of all things," I can see that being used on nebulous concepts like aggression and deception to transmute them into passivity, protection, honesty etc. and that'd fit that sequence of events fine. The biggest reason I don't think it was entirely One Man Army is that Niwatori died actively protecting Sharyu which doesn't entirely fit.

KNEEL BEFORE THE WICKED KING!
I am genuinely surprised that not only did Sharyu make it through the entire episode alive, everyone else did as well! It's really funny to me seeing her ranked as the 3rd most dangerous person in a head-to-head fight, when she spent the Taisen hiding out in a sewer and then the "fight" against Usagi has been nothing but deflecting his attacks and only really attacking the world's most obvious decoys.

The pre-OP bit seemed like it was... okay, I get the purpose of it and all since it's world building and explaining why the Juuni Taisen itself is important outside of "all out battle royale with a Wish at the end," but if it's a proxy war, why is it just being used for gambling when half the competitors die...? That seems a bit odd, to me. I get betting on the winner, yada yada, but at the halfway mark it seems a bit more pointless. And it being a proxy war implies that it's something major and important, on a larger scale, especially with the colored holograms, so...

Also, I dunno if it's just me but I really liked how simple Snake's power is, and how it wasn't explicitly spelled out but still made pretty obvious anyway. He has no head, so he can't see or hear but that's fine since he clearly has a tremorsense and can pick up on vibrations through the floor. It seemed like Nezumi'd figured it out, but he still got clearly worried that the headless Snake would notice him because of the radio for some reason. :v:

Well, after a few episodes of no deaths, I was expecting a bunch in rapid succession but I figured it'd be in an episode or two. Guess they're ripping that bandage off now though, and Sharyu's death here became really obvious the instant she chased after Usagi. That was such a blatant trap... Still, rip Sharyu, and the other 2 guys I guess.

It did seem weird to me that last episode Snake didn't count as dead for the betting tally but after Sheep, that meant 6 deaths, so the 3 before was meant to be 4? I guess that weirdness is a result of the minor rearrangement Dogsicle mentioned before.

Snake, even in death, is one of the most dangerous and competent fighters in this thing. Or, perhaps that should be especially in death. Usagi's necromantist powers seem really good at drawing out the best from everyone he controls.

Dragon, meanwhile, really is a totally boring loser. Can't wait to see how he gets dunked on in the future which absolutely has to happen, because he's just hanging out flying over the city. He's not gonna win, because he's going about it in the most uninteresting way possible.

So like did the episode look more like a rough draft to anyone else

I normally don't notice or care when I do but good lord did pretty much the entire thing look unfinished

It was pretty funny that the episode was allegedly about Usagi, but beyond the cold open and the very end he wasn't in at all. That sure is one way to not have to explain anything about him, I guess. :v:

I am curious how Rat is going to beat the unbeatable Genius of Slaughter, considering one is a sleepy boy who's been off-screen for a long while now and the other is a brooding untouchable badass. At this point, it's super obvious it's gonna happen but no idea how.

I guess there's also still Usagi's sliced and diced corpse to rekill and Sharyu's off.... somewhere... to resolve as well.

The only thing about Ox we got in his own episode is that his "power" was... just being really good with a sword I guess. Also he totally remembered Tiger, but didn't realise that she was the girl he saved which made Tiger's reason for chasing after him somehow even more Dumb Anime Misunderstanding than it already was.

Usagi turning himself, and the rest of the corpses, into a giant Flesh Golem was really cool, and potentially creepy, but it was... just sort of a thing that happened and now it's been cut twice and needs to take Five Minutes to reform oh noooo

Nezumi winning via Old Timer (...presumably) was sorta using a thing established before, but it was such an underwhelming anticlimax in practice that I can't help but feel like that was the point. But that's not necessarily good.
