P90s seem like kind of a weird choice for a rich-hippy guitar.

Out of all the guitars you could paint a giant pair of tits on, an Ibanez RG has to rank near the bottom.

I wonder if the weirder guitars on Rondo are customs that somebody ordered while drunk and refused to pay the balance on after they sobered up. Look at this thing, for instance. How are you going to get your djent on with nothing but a neck pickup? I guess somebody wanted to do a Charlie Hunter thing and then had second thoughts. After having another look at this I honestly think it would look fine if they put, say, a Les Paul Jr pickguard on it.

Most of their custom shop bodies have a fretless option and quite a few have multi-scale options, and there's no footnotes or anything that say you can't combine them. So I don't see any reason why they wouldn't. How many people even play fretless guitars, anyway? I can think of a few who have done it as a gimmick on a song or two (Steve Vai, Adrian Belew, Issei Noro from Casiopeia) but never as a regular thing.

I wonder how many of these Epiphone has been selling? None of the online retailers I check seem to be able to keep them in stock. Also smdh at calling that a "Les Paul" when it's clearly a Melody Maker. Respect your own history, Gibson. BDA fucked around with this message at 21:26 on Nov 4, 2017 |

If you're one of those people who only ever uses the bridge pickup I could see having goofy neck pickups just as a visual gimmick. People like that don't usually play single-coil Fenders, though.darkwasthenight posted:Looking at that wiring scheme I think they're for adding more high string or low string emphasis to the bridge pickup. Diversifying is not in and of itself a bad thing (as far as I know, I'm hardly some financial whiz) but diversifying by investing heavily into an industry that's due for a crunch even more severe than yours seems extraordinarily dumb.

If they're worried about diluting their brand they could just do what Fender does and have, y'know, other brands. According to Wikipedia their only instrument-building subsidiaries besides Epiphone are Kramer and Steinberger, neither of which are doing jack or poo poo ATM as far as I can tell.
