I got this game yesterday and the only bad thing I can say about it is that the trivia game has way way too many anime and kpop questions.

My thirst will never be quenched.

Yeah the minigolf could easily be a standalone $10 game. Right at this moment it's 8 courses with a full 18 holes apiece and they're a good balance of skill and goofy ball machine antics. And despite the slapdash Geocities look of the player hovels the actual official game stuff looks really good. Plus since all the players take their turns at the same time there's almost no downtime.

Other than that, the good:

Virus is a legitimately fun FPS mode, the randomized weapon loadouts and relatively short round lengths help keep it from getting boring. The sound design is surprisingly great because it starts off completely silent and then starts thumping cheesy techno once the outbreak starts and then when it's down to the last survivor it starts blasting buttrock that syncs up with the goofy-rear end hip-swaying zombie run animation.

Little Crusaders is also a fun asymmetrical multiplayer game where one person is a dragon with a bunch of different offensive abilities tries to eat everyone and the rest of the team is completely defenseless save for the ability to press the big glowing button on the dragon's back that turns it off. It's based on the Ultimate Chimera boss from Mother 3 if that helps.

The trivia minigame in the plaza is straightforward (10 questions a game, multiple choice with 4 answers with the odd True/False questions, points for correct answers based on how quickly you buzz in) and it nails that Who Wants to be a Millionaire/The Weakest Link vibe with the booming super intense music and lights and colors. The questions are all player-submitted so there's a lot of variety but it also means that the questions are skewed by the playerbase (the aforementioned overabundance of anime and kpop questions, a lot of Roman history, Homestuck, and computers), they're categorized by subject and difficulty so I imagine in the future you'll be able to have more control over the pools it draws from. There's also a fun meta element in seeing what subjects everyone gets right instantly and which ones totally stump the whole team.

And the bad:

Bowling is basically the bowling minigame from Wii Sports only with you moving your mouse back to wind up and then forward to throw instead of waggling. The core gameplay is fine and I freaking love the authentic low-res videos that play when you strike/spare/etc but it's kind of ruined by the fact that there's a ton of downtime since everyone goes one at a time and you're stuck twiddling your thumbs during their turns watching the same pointless animations of the ball returning and the pins being set every. single. time.

I'm not super crazy about Ball Race but maybe that's because I play with m+kb, I can't imagine Monkey Ball would work nearly as well without that sweet sweet analog control stick action either.

Laser Tag is just a slow and clunky one weapon team deathmatch that doesn't really do anything special aside from a weird resurrection gimmick where you have to run to recharging stations after you get shot. The most enjoyment I got from it is the rules sign in the lobby.

There's also a casino but IMHO there's not really much of a point to it because it's all fairly low stakes so even though the odds are rigged to make it consistently profitable in the long run you're better off playing an actual game instead of clicking on a lever for 20 minutes. And you can't even cheese it by leaving it running with an autoclicker for free money while you sleep or whatever since it periodically stops the game and makes you basically complete a one-key captcha to make sure you're there.

One thing I think is worth mentioning is that overall the game is pretty good about constantly giving you credits for your in-game performance on top of a participation payout and rewards for your ranking at the end so there's very little pressure to minmax your game choices or stress out about your performance. Like Bowling has a pretty hefty reward at the end to make up for it taking so long to play, and you get a hundred monies for getting a Split (along with encouragement for better luck next time) as well as for Strikes and Spares. One of those custom canvases people use for internet pictures is 1,000 monies and basic building blocks are much cheaper, there are a few conspicuously expensive objects but otherwise you can basically fully customize your character and pad without having to spend a ton of time earning money.

So as part of the Steam fall sale this is currently marked down to $10.49, which is the lowest it's ever been on sale. If you want to pick it up now's a pretty good time IMHO.

Wait did this game get popular again? I bought it in the summer to play golf with friends and load up gut punching dad on every video screen I could find.

I loaded it up last week and they hadn't gotten the button condo item to do anything yet so I can't get my video wall working

I'd imagine the button is taking a whole hell of a lot of playtesting since it's basically opening the door for insanely complex programming a la Redstone in Minecraft.

This was a new one even to me, a seasoned internet veteran. It's some kind of cutesy furry gore porn? I don't even know man.

It's called "candy gore" and it's really unsettling how quickly it became commonplace among furries. Like, jerking off to people being disemboweled it totes cool so long as they're superficially made of something that only looks like actual blood and guts.

this game fuckin rules, let's play ball race

I really hope they overhaul the camera and controls of ball race because the course designs are nice and all but good lord is a traditional m+kb third person shooter control scheme not suited for the kind of crazy topsy-turvy Monkeyball shenanigans you get up to in an average map. You basically have to memorize the courses to have a fighting chance positioning the camera ahead of time.

If you like laughing at reference sheets of peoples weird terrible neon-colored ~original characters~ then the progression of them starting to conspicuously add inserts of them with their mouths open to show off their teeth and tongue and gums when they all got into vore and then showing cross sections with their unique bone and viscera colors when they got I to gore is a thing.

If Tower Unite had the character customization of Second Life it would be perfect. As is that's the one thing its surprisingly lacking in, you only have a default male and female body and face with a few outfits where all you can customize is the colors. There's also skeletons and anthropomorphic milk cartons that get no clothing options at all and just color sliders. Everyone gets to choose accessories like hats and glasses and ties but it's still pretty meager.

Give me enough sliders to make a proper Monster Factory out of it!

They rolled the winter event out yesterday, now a portal opens up in the middle of the plaza that you can jump in and join a snowball fight. A snowball fight FPS with ragdoll physics and gratuitous impact sounds and a buttrock midi of jingle bells playing on loop the entire time :allears:
