Does the game still have tons of weird items to pick up everywhere, settlements and camps that actually feel like real places, and hard-won progress? Those were my favorite parts of Gothic 2 and Risen.

Yes to all three questions, including really powerful items laying around in the world. The discovery of these is a bit dampened by the fact that everything has insanely high stat requirements though.

Awesome. The early trailers made it look like they smoothed the game down, kinda looked like a janky Witcher 3. I respect the seamless "perfection" of The Witcher series but I prefer the feel of Gothic, warts and all.

To me, it's worse than Risen in every way. More awkward, worse story, worse combat, awful interface.

It feels like they went straight from Gothic 3 to Elex. Zero lessons learned from Risen 1, which I thought was awesome.

I'd say Risen is 10x better than this game. All of the good and (mostly) none of the bad.

The open world Witcher 3 thing just doesn't work for PB games.
