I can't believe you scraped that much gunk off a loving WHEEL. That's the kind of garbage you clean off old engine crossmembers. Ugh. I've always liked that style of wheel so I look forward to seeing the restoration. Glad you're keeping them.

Derp! Yeah, having to press a button to get the key out on a manual equipped car was pretty common in the 80s. I don't think Honda did it (neither of my 88 Accords did that), but Toyota definitely did, and a lot of domestic stuff did. I don't really get why - at first it'll remind you to double check that the parking brake is on/car is in gear, but it becomes muscle memory pretty quickly.

Probably wouldn't hurt to get a new ignition cylinder and keys; a good locksmith should be able to figure out what the key should have looked like based on the least-worn key you have, cut a matching key, and setup the lock cylinder for you. I'd assume the only other lock cylinder worn nearly as bad would be the driver's door lock.

Ford loving loved the buttons/levers for key release. Learned on one of my dad's coworker's '89 Ranger and it had a little button. I had a '00 Mustang and it had a little button/lever thing right above the ignition to push to get the key out, too. I can only assume they drug that out on the Mustangs through at least '04 when that body style ended. Don't remember if the ST twins had them when I drove those. Haven't driven anything else, but it wouldn't surprise me if they still had something in place.

No, you can't. It was literally never smooth to start with. It's spray paint. I would sand through it attempting to get it smooth, and it's probably not hard enough to polish. If I could figure out how to get it off without destroying the factory paint, I would.

Take it down to metal and clearcoat it.

Is it actually metric? I thought most seatbelt bolts in the US were actually standard, even on import cars, for stupid legal reasons.

The inboard front seatbelt anchors in the Nova aren't the same thread. They're the same size, but one's coarse and one's fine. Yeah.

Well, LSx Camaro, at least.

I know the fronts are essentially identical between C5/C6 and LSx F-bodies. Apparently the Vette calipers are a bit stiffer with beefier ribs or something. I believe the rears are drat similar, too.

I know those brakes will bolt right up to a Chevy 10 bolt, but I don't really know the differences with the BOP stuff. $20 for all that poo poo is a loving bargain and a half. The only thing I had to do on mine was hog out the center bore in the rotor just a bit to clear the axle. I had to make some brackets for the parking brake cables, too.

I bought a roll of this stuff and it's pretty nice to work with: https://www.amazon.com/Alex-Tech-25...114&s=hi&sr=1-4

Definitely didn't need the fancy WireCare tool either. I probably could have (should have) picked up some of the bigger stuff for the fatter bundles coming right out of the back of the fuse panel, but there's enough overlap that I was able to get it covered with the 3/8" stuff. I just used some small black zip ties and flush cutters for securing it.

Little old for my preference (grew up in an '85), but I'm eager to see some content with it. A seventh gen is still on my "wouldn't it be cool" list.

I made peanut butter bread form a 1932 recipe!

Specifically, this recipe:
https://www.tiktok.com/embed/7058426030880738606
(this guy's commentary is a hoot. "We want the bread to rise not generate thrust!" Bonus is that he owns and daily drives a 1962 Cadillac, and actually knows something about cars.)

I'm no cook, but I love PB, and this has all of 6 ingredients. So I made it. It came out very well. I think it needs more PB, so I'll bump that up for next time, but it's really fine as is. Interestingly enough, the same, or a very similar recipe popped up in my weekly Instructables email. Only variation was a bit more PB, and weights were given (I used weights rather than volume.)

drat, I may try that this weekend. Oughtta drive my dog nuts.

For anybody trying/having to avoid tiktok:

2c flour
1/4c sugar
pinch salt
4t baking powder
1 1/3c milk
1/2c peanut butter

325F - 70 minutes

It should play in the post without having to actually go to Twitter, but yeah, what they said.
It's worth listening to Dylan, though. He's funny. One of my favorites is from him comparing new cars to his '62 Cadillac, describing the headlights on the new car as "JESUS BEAMS!"

Here's the one from Instructables:
https://www.instructables.com/Peanut-Butter-Bread/

edit: if I weren't trying to limit carbs, I totally would have scarfed the entire loaf in the last 3 days.
edit 2: one addition to the recipe - mix all the dry goods, the add milk, then fold in PB. I used 2/3 cup (152g) PB, probably go for 1 cup (228g) next time.

Noted on bumping up the pb. I'm just about out of my crunchy stuff so I'll pick up a fresh jar of smooth this weekend. My wife's not really a fan of peanuts (whole or in butter form) so I plan on wrecking the entire thing myself in no time flat.

I buy the natural stuff too so my dog can enjoy it. She's got some allergies and can't have the crap with soybean oil in it.
Bread's in the oven right now so I'm excited to see what happens in an hour.

Man, gently caress working inside of doors, amirite? I had to fix both of the rear windows in the Nova when I bought it and that sucked. Luckily no rivets, but I had to do the entire process pretty much by feel and by the time I was done, both of my forearms looked like I spent a weekend wrestling with cats.

Ha! I didn't notice that, actually. I've got a "HURST" logo handle and an "INDY" logo handle but still need the 4-speed pattern H and the lesser-known "M/A 500" handle. I plan on using the INDY handle in the Nova and am keeping an eye out for all of them at swap meets and antique shows.
