They challenge the "double genocide" narrative, along the lines of counting reduced birth rates as the number of people killed by The Evils of Communism. You may not agree with it, but they break it down in a more substantial way than simple "holodomor denial." There is a lot of hosed up history around the Soviet Union, but American propaganda has gone to significant efforts to pin them as equally evil as the Nazis, while the pure and clean America remains oh so pretty

I like communist theory and hate "fun" morning zoo poo poo, so Tampa-based Swampside Chats is my favorite. Once in a while they use a sound effect or tell a joke and I get angry until they start more dry speculation on Lenin. This week's RWN really hits John Dolan's wheelhouse. The first hour is an overview of the Byzantine-Sassanid wars from the 6th century and then Patrick Cockburn talks about the clusterfuck in Iraqi Kurdistan. He was like an excited kid the whole time. All that was missing was a segment on the Troubles.

Discourse Collective is unlistenable garbage and their theory really bad. As someone who took French in college, there's an R in bourgeoise and also there will still be managers and even a professional and managerial class under socialism. Modern society is too complex to do without that kind of specialization. Now, those professionals and managers will be responsible to democratic and collective bodies, but they will definitely exist.

A lot of Discourse Collective's theory stuff is about Marxism and Communism in particular, and afaik they don't presume that any actually existing socialist system wouldn't have "managers" or directors that would be organizing labor. It's important to keep in mind that DC is a big tent Leftist podcast, and they will have anarchists and REVISIONISTS!  on.

Can someone dumb it down for me? Left Communists are all the communists who split with the Leninists at the second Communist International congress in 1920, and it could mean a lot of things. It's basically everything to the "left" of Marxist-Leninism. As a meme, Leftcom specifically means following after the theory of Italian communist Amadeo Bordiga, who thought participating in democracy was pointless since it would dilute the communist program by compromising with social democrats. Bordiga thought that what communists should do is maintain the program and propaganda until the tide of politics turned back their way from reaction. As a meme this translates to leftcoms reading theory in their armchairs, and waiting for capitalism to destroy itself instead of engaging in political activism.
