This PNG has been with me for almost 20 years, and I've used it all over the Internet, but I feel it's important to try to wring some dollars out of it before it hits zero. Bidding starts at $6,849.23

Hey at least SA avatars are all quite unique and usually have a story behind them, apes are just a horrible randomly generated selection of ugly ape pieces on a coloured background.

apparently one of his ape friends bought it off him... which is incredibly dumb because if the guy is able to get money somehow and wants to buy it back but the price goes up/down he'll complain that he has to pay more or complain about why he has to pay so much if the price is down. also the dude bought an ape. a used ape. one that someone else has branded their identity onto... like a soul for losers. a big lose/lose/lose scenario. unprecedented.

So this weirdo's friend bought it. As a friendly gesture, do you suppose the friend will let the weirdo continue using the JPEG as their twitter profile? I mean, good for weirdo for staying true to their "everything must be monetized" ethos instead of just asking their friend to borrow some money because weirdo's in a tight spot. cruft fucked around with this message at 19:57 on Mar 29, 2024 |

25 years for the biggest fraud in history doesn't seem like much but he'll likely be in for the rest of the prime physical (lol) years of his life. He'll be eating prison food and getting prison medical care and that can't do good things for the final ~quarter of your life, if you even live that long. A lot of people have a major medical event by that age too. Having said that if he gets all the good behavior credits available to him he could be out in half time. He seems to be intent on self sabotage and is full of hubris so good luck with that.

A few years later a famous flash cartoon came out during the excitement of a new Street Fighter and I figured it was time

SA should put all avatars on a blockchain to show proof of purchase and transfer and ownership. Not this messy system where you can just slam down your credit card and change an AV.

It'd be very funny for bitcoin to shoot way, way, way the gently caress up, and then a few dozen big holders decide to cash out, for the entire webring to go "uh yeah, so about the liquidity..." Also 25 years is fine, especially since 20 years without parole. Dude gonna come out talking about ancient tech no one cares about. Or the funnier option: he gets his parents or someone to do more, very obvious, crimes for him to "fix everything to show he should be let out". That'd be so good.

spunkshui posted:It appears to be another NFT marketplace that is decentralized. It sounds like the value of apes was high in part because it was a highly illiquid market and you could kinda just say "my ape is worth x" and no one could prove you wrong. Now there's a more liquid market, and one where selling at a loss can still make you money. As a result prices are circling the drain and the NFT true believers are left holding the bag. quote:Blur has incentivised NFT trading on its marketplace by promising a lucrative token airdrop for top users — free tokens that can be traded on secondary markets for value. and also quote:“The price fall is more due to a drop in confidence in Yuga Labs, rather than anything to do with Blur,” he said. https://www.dlnews.com/articles/markets/bored-ape-fans-blame-blur-for-falling-nft-prices/ I think at this point the likely outcome is YUGA and Blur doing a rugpull and leaving holders with a bunch of worthless NFTs and airdrop tokens
