Alvarez has a dog brain and misses really obvious stuff all the time, which is why I stick to his old NWA reviews. I also think he's much more fun to listen to when he likes something vs when he doesn't.

When Bryan kept complaining about brian cage waiting to help Swerve in the Texas death match near the end, just obnoxious levels of whining, and then not a peep about the bloodline waiting to help Roman near the ending of his dumb match

That's when my patience to listening to him hit its limit.

I listen to B&V for Vinny, because at least he knows when there is an X-Men or video game reference or can figure out the ring psychology enough to put logic where logic might not be.

Bryan is unfortunately going the way of the IWC guy upset his fantasy booking isn't going a certain way, but please super follow, cameo and YouTube subscription and get the F4W membership, even though you're probably still there for Dave.

And we will see you, after a while!

I still love Bryan and Vinny's retro reviews, though I take them less seriously these days. Deadlock for excitement and laughter, B&V to chill out.

The AEW reviews are dumb as hell.

Retro Raw and Nitro was the best time of B&V, even more than the TNA meltdowns.

But deadlock is just amazing when it comes to dumb moments in wrestling, and not afraid to look into modern wrestling either and finding ways to mock reality era nxt or czw and plus, somehow they have a promotion.

And the mercy seat is awaiting,
And I think my head is burning,
And in a way I'm yearning,
To be done with all this measuring of proof.
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth,
And anyway I told the truth,
And I'm not afraid to die.
The second Bryan quit the retro TNA shows because they were too awful was when my interest died.

Any decent New Japan podcasts out there? I just need a run-down of cards, what's coming up etc.

I'm giving up on the Super-J Cast. I'd take peak NJPW over peak AEW too (though the massive talent disparity nowadays makes that a moot point), but the mental gymnastics it takes to claim you felt nothing watching Okada/Pac and Danielson/Ospreay makes you sound ridiculous. Worse tribalism than WWE dorks on Twitter.

and the less said about the lengthy detour into their taste in porn the better

I don't have a good answer but thank you for that bit of Super J Cast info. I hear a lot of jokes about that podcast being whiny but never that.

Maybe Keeping It Strong Style? I'm not super familiar but here's a discussion of the Mox/Hobbs match that might help you calibrate

I think there was something at the end of this week's Garrett WOR.

Doesn't really matter anyway, since only wrestling people with non-compete have been the likes of Renee Paquette and Vince.

Dave mentioned it also may not apply to wrestling as WWE pays them during the 90 day non compete whereas the ones they're going to end people don't get paid

there've been 3 or 4 times I've been excited to watch the new retro sync on the patreon, then think "hang on I remember this", and realise it's because a fan did their own version on YT. Which is great but also would be handy if they'd check to ensure they're not doubling up :eng99:

I’m confused by Dave’s complaints about Collision’s first 30 minutes.

It was Swerve cutting a promo, setting up a main event, a recap of a major angle with the bucks and Jack Perry, and a high octane six man tag showing the kind of wrestling you’ll see in AEW.

And Dave is like “I’m in disbelief, this was their chance to show a new audience AEW and they wasted the first 30 minutes.”

Am I just stupid? Do I not understand the wrestling business? It seemed like a very solid first 30 minutes to me.

Early deadlock this week, and a preview of November RAWs!

TNA Wrestling is canceled…or is it?! TNA is in between TV deals, but that does not stop them from producing episodes of Impact! This is the very first episode of TNA Wrestling during the “Real Player” era! You could watch the show online from their website using Real Player or by torrenting the show! Many people thought that this was the end of the company, but they were only getting started! We are hot off the heels of Slammiversary 2005 and Raven is the new NWA World Champion. A challenger emerges at the end of the show in Abyss! Also, Samoa Joe makes his Impact debut against Delirious!

I know this is anecdotal but I used that episode to show AEW to two people who knew a bit of wrestling but had never seen AEW before and they were completely in, even if they were joking about Claudio being Agent 47. I'm not really sure either. They were losing their poo poo every time Top Flight did a stupid dive and had a great time all show. I dunno!

I can agree with how they should have said Fenix and RUSH were returning during the card previews on Dynamite but I can't pretend I didn't enjoy seeing my partner lose their poo poo at the "RUSH returns" graphic because it meant showing her cousins her favorite wrestler lol

Because of how his brain works, things that don't make sense to Meltzer usually make sense to everyone else on Earth, so I wouldn't read too much into that. Plus, nitpicking about AEW is good for engagement even/especially when it contradicts things you've said before.

yeah at this point, there is money to be maid nitpicking aew - so don't expect it to end or even make sense. It's just part of the game. AEW is secure enough now with how the network values them that I don't think the media is going to just be able to criticism them to death.

The fun thing about James stopping the pod to obsequiously beg Samoa Joe to work a show agent a show do an appearancedo a seminar sit with them and critique the show watch the show and send literally one email is because of Caprice and Luther and all their other AEW contacts, he'll definitely hear it, regardless of if/how he responds.

The best AEW nitpicks are the ones that get Tony Khan to reply guy at you.

The other good ones are the all-or-nothing loyalist. Because they've become the annoying WWE guy themselves.

Wrestling is great and terrible equally, and my favorite things to do here is check out the MOTY/WMOTY and just have fun.

I can't be bothered to watch 30 hours of wrestling a week like Meltzer and Bryan, but I'm glad this community has great picks. It's really the minutae of "who gets the title?" "Who is this person?" Etc
