Is it just me or is it weird that adults throw birthday parties for themselves. A surprise party from friends/family I get, but planning one for yourself? Just seems odd to me.

My last several birthdays have just been my wife taking me out to dinner and either a movie or a show and she usually bakes me a cake. I haven't had a "birthday party" as such since my 21st and that was really just a pub crawl.

So how much do you guys pay for AAA or the like?

(Healthcare discussion, but for cars not people)

E: genuine question, I am interested. £59/year to cover me in any vehicle towed to nearest garage, £109 with recovery to any location of my choice.

I have AAA plus which covers my wife and me. It's $91/year (I'm in the Mountain West area) and I get 100 miles of free towing (any destination within those 100 miles, doesn't have to be a garage), free fuel/delivery, and $100 towards any locksmith service. Also, they'll come change/air up a tire, jump the car, etc. I can use it 4 times per calendar year.

Plus you get discounts on stuff, they have travel services you can use, etc. The plus level comes with some trip cancellation/delay insurance and if you bump up to premier, it includes some travel accident/medical insurance.

edit: condolences, Siochain. That poo poo blows.

They are both weirdly low mileage. Seriously, that Escort's only been driven an average of 4.5k miles a year? I mean, I've heard of "little old lady only drove it to church on Sunday" cars but that's crazy.

Are you aware of Gogol Bordello? Caught them live a couple weeks ago, it was great. They're on that weird edge between punk, folk, and ska of all things.

One of my favorite songs! It will get stuck in your head, though, and people look at you kinda funny when you start singing it to yourself in public.

I really liked the Five Guys here when they first opened but I feel like it's gone downhill since. The burgers are still the second best fast food burger offering in town but they've gotten messier with assembly and the fries are way too limp and oily, which makes me think that they're not processing them right or they've got their fryer set up wrong or something.

The best fast food burgers in town are at a local place called Hoagieville, but the real reason to go there is for the hoagie cheese fries.
