Staying abreast of the latest developments in jam communism

Steady. Ed is a good lad and I won't stand idly by while someone compares him to a Democrat. I'll fight you.

I said this earlier, but I highly recommend his podcast.

It doesn't really work.

The funniest bit to me is how they used up all the Red Ed most Marxest candidate ever rhetoric on Ed and then Corbyn came along and they've got nothing other than 'he wouldn't use Trident against his friends in Hamas' because they already blew that load.

Less funny but still :ironicat: is how the paper that supported Hitler et al spent Ed's campaign going "he's a North London geek and he's not athletic and his dad ran away from Europe and he's disconnected from the British tradition and he's rootless and his house has two kitchens" and then suddenly switched to "isn't it sickening how antisemitic Corbyn's Labour are?"

Which is a legit criticism if Labour members are being antisemitic, but the loving Mail don't get to make it.

Liberalism: the gateway ideology. Not even once.

Also, of course, we now have a leader who is unapologetically socialist. They use the 'red' rhetoric, he just replies 'well, yeah, obviously. So?'

I think that Social Liberalism is about the best this country will be able to manage for the foreseeable future.

Please explain to me how a country that is capable of producing at best, 60%-70% of its annual food consumption, reliant on dwindling domestic coal, oil and gas and significant energy importation (with the possibility of re-opening a few more mines), lacking in the domestic supply of most minerals and metals required for industrial production and unable to sustain significant domestic industrial supply chains as demonstrated by our skewed balance of trade, is going to go with full communism in the foreseeable future, without either the entirety of Europe or another continent turning communist first? Nations like ours require a patron, or some sort of grouping that enables us to be amongst equals.

In the United States yes. After discussing it however, I think it best be relegated to the status of a stupid thought experiment. I hope that the peoples of the United States are able to find a way to live together in peace and friendship without recourse to partition or balkanisation.

PLEASE ASK ABOUT MY 80,000 WORD WALLACE AND GROMIT SLASH FICTION. PLEASE.

I'm really kind of terrified of your worldview if ethno-states are your thought experiment of choice. States is bad enough, the ethnic dimension renders them horriifc.

If the Scots, Welsh, Cornish and inhabitants of Northern Ireland wish to go their own ways, then that is their prerogative. It would be understandable if they did, given Brexit and Westminster dysfunction. I would prefer a Federation that can accommodate Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Northern Ireland and the English regions. However, it may be too late for that now.

I agree with you that a single global state is preferable to the multitude of states that exist now. The thought experiment in question was an attempt to address the ethnic divisions of the United States through national liberation. However, I would rather that those divisions heal within the United States.

I would suggest that such a country would probably do a lot better without pursuing deregulation and liberalization of its scant resources.
