Will most places just let you walk out with a few grand of their money in cash if you don't needle them too much? The risk of being robbed seems super high compared to say, playing poker in a casino.

Yes. It is riskier. But that's part of the life.

Yeah, OP, I remember reading your old thread about hustling and whatnot. I found it interesting with some of the terminology that you used. I didn't know that putting "English" on the ball was spinning for example.
Do you find the terminology varies a lot from place to place?

Some of the local terminology in my area:

Putting "spin" on the ball, (english).

"Sewer" is sinking the cue ball regardless of situation.

"Scratch" doing a lovely job of hitting the cue ball such that it goes in whatever direction that isn't where you wanted it to go.

"Prick shot", putting the cue ball somewhere that your opponent doesn't have a shot.

English is English everywhere

Never heard of sewer but that's a scratch

Scratch is the same as foul, where the cue ball doesn't hit the object ball or ends up in a pocket

What you refer to as a "prick shot" is generally called a safety.

These are pretty universal

In short, no. He moved out of Vegas and is married with a child now.
