I know this is new territory for you but most teams in most sports don't end the game in the first few plays like the Pats do

e: Also it's about the process, man. To me, seeing a sick alley oop off a block in a blow out is just as cool as seeing AB do something cool in a meaningless half of a game

Have they cut down on teams down by twenty points fouling every second to drag the last two minutes out to twenty minutes yet?

Yup! Changes to fouls and timeouts starting this season and it has been magical

I don't see a way they can get rid of tackling and keep a good level of play. So much of what makes a good player is the ability to tackle and evade tackles. If its just tag or flag you lose that completely. Not to mention the complication of line play.

Football is on its way out. Just remember the good times if there were any for your team.

There needs to be a strong, good faith effort to teach the next generation to tackle properly. There are way too many hosed up tackles that make this way worse than it should be.

I coached in pop warner in AZ and I can tell you that inspite of every coach having to go through the heads up training program, not nearly enough are actually teaching it.

Also, refs aren't really enforcing it either. My son's team was playing another team who took out 3 of our kids with helmet to helmet hits, no flags no nothing. I was getting pissed. Then my son got nailed in the helmet, I rush onto the field to check on him and ask the ref if he was ever planning on throwing a flag or correcting this behavior by the other team that was obviously leading with their helmets (the other coaches and parents would cheer every time). The refs response? I quote "how else do you expect him to tackle?". All I remember is being escorted off the field by the other coaches, apparently I went after the ref and the other coaches had to physically take me off the field. I have never been black out pissed before, but I was furious.

Anyway, my kid had a concussion and that was the last snap he played. To your point though, yes, it absolutely needs to be taught much much better than it currently is.

Nba is real good right now and if you still picture the NBA as the 90s early 2000, you would do well to catch a game on TNT some Thursday night.

It also has the top off season and twitter.

NBA has a parity problem because 2 superstars on a team give them an unbelievable edge. With the recent growth of the salary cap, rings are more valuable than that extra couple million, so you get players willing to take a haircut from league max to team up with each other.

Also I'm bitter because my team is garbage.

Nah, the Warriors are more incosistent and the Cavs are below .500 this year

Seriously, if nothing else, you need to be watching the NBA just for Joel Embiid

EDIT: The Cavs are back above .500, but more resemble the mediocre pre-Miami Cavs LeBron teams, that the power houses of the last year or 2

The only thing I wish is the NBA would cut out some of the regular season, because it's just too long and inconsequential.

NBA playoffs are pretty cool though.

I'd also say stuff about parity and you could make some changes around that but, Patriots fan, so uh, glass houses and all that.

this isn't as much of a problem as you'd think if you only watched the finals every year. the Thunder took the Warriors to 7 in 2015 and the Spurs were gonna seriously challenge them if Kawhi didn't get hurt last year. both the Cavs and the Warriors needed a decent amount of luck to get to the finals two out of the three years

It ain't going away any time soon.

That said, I wouldn't mind so much if other American sports weren't so monumentally awful. Basketball is far too geared towards star player who can get away with murder on the court, baseball has way WAY too many games and is just general bore to actually watch.

Once football ends I guess I'll be one of those sport hating dudes.

This subforum can't even seriously talk about a major problem in the sport it's dedicated to without getting nonsensically derailed. I don't know if it's denial or just the bleak realization that nothing can be done and the sport will keep mass-producing brain damaged people until it goes away. Either way, :smith:
