I’m just starting my second game playing as Castille. After looking through everything I noticed that my heir is as bad as can be and disinherited him. It’s a lot of prestige but I feel like I’d rather have the MP that’ll come from the 3/3/2 heir I’ve since sired. Was that actually a bad idea? Is there some event or something that I could’ve used to get rid of him first? Luckily I got a monthly prestige advisor to help burn off that malus a little sooner. I’m gearing up for my truce with Grenada to expire and I don’t think that penalties from my low prestige should hurt too much in the upcoming war.

Thanks! Now instead of progressing towards my war I’ve just been staring at this inscrutable trade map mode that I mostly ignored last time. After looking at the wiki it’s actually quite a bit less confusing than it appears in game, but I’m sureyou can still sit around with a spreadsheet for unlimited hours trying minmax the thing. I really love small numbers that slowly increase over time in games so I think I found my new porn.

Could mean a team working on EU4 while 5 is in development. Doesn’t Fred Wester spend his time in Barcelona now that he’s stepped down from day to day stuff? Maybe he just wants to form a new studio there and this is the start.

The same publisher has delayed Bloodlines 2 like 5 times because they want their first big entry to the RPG space to not suck. It’s just weird that they’d deal a blow to their main business instead. I don’t know that this will have significant long-term effects or not. But it sure feels like it puts them on watch at least.

As a relatively recent newcomer to PDS games (when Stellaris launched) I’d really love for EU4 to get the CK3 treatment. Nice new map, throw out a bunch of bad old systems, integrate the ones that were good into the base game, come up with a handful of new things/new UI and ship it in a really clean technical state. I’m sure that’s hard as hell to do but I really struggle to get into the current game regardless of how much volume of content it has.

I think finding the perfect combination of geography and modifiers that aren’t just always there by design is very compelling. You start thinking “ok I could do this and take these traits and build this building” and see it all unfold in your head, which is basically always better than actually doing it. PDS games just don’t have anything like that really, which is why I hope they keep that side of the game in Stellaris 2 (and whatever fantasy GSG they’re working on) and try to shore up the late-game grand-strategy stage. I’m sure the presence of the first makes the second hard/impossible, but the PDS stable is large enough at this point to have different types of games imo.

Seems like the kind of thing that’s 100/1 on even coming out, let alone being good, but is worth a follow.

They’ve done a commendable job, along with the community, of turning a bunch of generic sci-fi into a fairly distinct generic sci-fi IP with Stellaris. Hopefully someone is working on exactly the same thing for fantasy this very minute.

Older game versions are usually available to roll back to via Steam beta branches. If you’re running any mods it can get weird if they start to update for the new patch while you play the old one, though.

Quill’s twitch streams are still very chill. 90% of the resub stuff is crammed into the first 10 minutes before the game playing starts so it’s very easy to ignore. There will almost certainly be one loud noise when someone donates by ordering a pizza or sushi or something but I enjoy watching it startle him. Not much in the way of PDS games recently, though he did just finish an EU4 run on YouTube.
