I chose the F1 because to me it's the ultimate, the only car I feel can justify being described as both setting out to be the absolute best possible sports car, and having a strong argument for never having been truly beaten at its own game. I like F40s, but they're very... Italian in their design and assembly.

Also it's the literal unobtainability. An F40 is what, a million quid now? Then you have the XJ220, which fits into my desireability ranking above the F40 but below the F1, and is maybe half that. Sure, I'll most probably never afford one, but it's not outside the more distant bounds of things like lottery wins or inventing a better mouetrap or whatever. The F1 is now into some kind of ridiculous 8-figure price bracket, even a fairly solid lottery jackpot would leave you coming up short.
