Not sure how I wound up there but I was browsing the NYT college football articles and reading a few over the past few weeks and was thinking they were actually really good, like significantly better than when Pete Thamel was their guy and everything smacked of carpetbaggers who palpably looked at the whole scene as a provincial curiosity. The Iron Bowl recap weaved a pretty good narrative about the flow and storylines of what was actually happening on the field in a way the AP wire report or ESPN's gamer rarely does. But then I got to a line about Jalen Hurts being harassed not only by Auburn's pass rush but also the "appropriately eagle-like screeches" of the crowd. I've been to probably 50 games in Jordan-Hare. It's loud as gently caress (like substantially punches above its capacity in loudness) and it rules, but I have never heard "eagle-like screeches". I'm imagining the Always Sunny where they put on a wrestling show for the troops as the Birds of War aka Pigeon Boys.

As long as LSU/Miss St. get some blowback from Leo Lewis admitting they offered him money I'll be fine - if they walk away without even a slap on the wrist I'll be really bummed. It's nuts that a highly touted recruit can get immunity to narc on one of the schools paying him and the other two schools paying him suffer literally zero consequences.
