yooo I’m a trans lady let me maybe weigh in on this. I liked femshep a lot but for a lot of games I prefer male characters because they aren’t distastefully sexualized or something. let me tell you about my sexy night elf hunter

yeah I tried to suggest to my endo that he should prescribe me finasteride for the male pattern baldness in my family but he didn't want to / didn't catch on / idk I am not a doctor so can't really complain

Oh, I'm not worried about hair loss, I'm more worried about suppressing T, just using that as an in for something other than spiro I'd heard finasteride sorta works but maybe I'm confusing it with dutasteride

I always roleplayed as a super androgynous bard character. vidya games are 50/50, my main in WoW was a buff night elf dude. always go for femshep. male boss in saints row. depends on how badly sexualized the female characters are I guess. idk if I'd call myself genderqueer or w/e but I don't think I feel gender dysphoria the same was as a lot of girls. there are lots of days where gender doesn't bother me, some days I actually like dressing like a sharp male. but I'd still rather not have a peenor, or be legally male

hey thread I just wanted to shout out a small update I guess I’m finally getting referred to dermatology for laser/electro, which means I’m able to move forward a bit more on transitioning at work. it’s a good feeling I’m still kinda lost though

I’ve been using a concealer KatelibC suggested, it’s kinda orangeish I’d heard about using orange lip stick but that sounds awful, I might try the powder some time

ate all the Oreos posted:So! I have my care through Kaiser Permanente, and they’ve been working over the last several years to have fully integrated transgender care. it’s a little slow but I’m very satisfied so far this means I don’t have to do my own shots, a nurse does them for me at the clinic. main reason I went with a 2 week cycle is because the clinic is a bit out of my way so I don’t have to dread going every week. my endo said 3 and 4 week doses were possible too but not recommended I was on patches before and they were ok I guess, but I didn’t feel I was getting a good enough dose consistently. also I was doing self injections several years back during my false start, and it was very difficult building up the nerve to do it? having a nurse do it means a) the shot can go in my butt and b) it doesn’t hurt for 2 days because I’m bad at it I am avoiding pills because my liver panel has been showing higher bilirubin levels than normal, so we don’t want to overwork it

for what it’s worth, my insurance is Kaiser Permanente and: I just had to schedule an appointment with my GP and ask about trans care. she sent me to a specialist therapist, we had 2 sessions 3 months apart and I got a referral to endocrinology. so it was about 6 months from the first appointment to having hormones in my body. they also coordinate vocal therapy, laser/electro, and even plastic surgery. only problem is, it’s Kaiser i guess

WrenP-Complete posted:I mentioned recently feeling weird about my gender presentation because of pain issues. I have Ehlers Danlos syndrome - hypermobility type (so I'm really flexible and dislocate my joints and injure myself a lot) I constantly dislocate my collarbones, causing a whole host of painful issues. Wearing a bra while my collarbones are swollen is excruciatingly painful and not happening. Sometimes I feel fine about this (today) and sometimes I wish I could just have more control over my body. I'm sure you understand. I used to have a japanese "cafe bag" I got of jlist like in 2005, it was a bag that had clips to attach to your belt, or you could attach a shoulder strap instead. it was super handy to have and easy to use, and didn't look like a grandpa's fanny pack. dunno where to find one now but maybe that idea will help you on your search

Pollyanna posted:yo if its ok i have a question to ask here cuz the trans thread got clobbered I was on patches for a while but they didn't really increase my blood estrogen much? they did suppress my T a lot though. doc said I might need to wear 2 or 3 at a time to get to correct levels and I got super tired of the adhesive getting stuck on my underwear didn't have much trouble with them falling off after a while but I was also directed to change them every 4 days. my impression is that they're maybe good for post-menopausal HRT but not really for pre-surgery transgender HRT e: oh I was using the Bayer brand ones (Climara), they're a little smaller than a credit card and did stick pretty well, except they would get pulled back from the edges where the adhesive was as my body shifted, and then a ring of sticky gunk would be sticking my panties to my rear end all day and leave a mark.
