I do think that's probably a bit too small for a human's perch, yeah.

I was sitting in a street cafe the other day, and this raggedy-rear end jackdaw flew up onto the backrest of the chair opposite from me, and yawned. I'm bummed I didn't get a photo of that, because it looked absolutely adorable. I was rather uncertain whether it was eyeing my sandwich or my coffee.

Collateral Damage posted:Supposedly a pleasurable tingling sensation in your skin brought on by certain sounds, but since which type of sound causes the sensation is highly individual most of the time it's just slapped onto a video titles as clickbait. This is actually one of the better summaries I've seen. It's a quirky but perfectly innocuous phenomenon at its core, but then The Internet glommed onto it and made it loving weird. I've been occasionally having the sensation since I was a kid, I just never thought about it much. It starts as a kind of gentle, electric pinching feeling in the back of my head and neck, spreading as a sort of goosebump-y tingling across my scalp. If you've ever tried one of those scalp massage wire thingies, it's kinda like that but without the feeling of physical contact. It's somehow very soothing and calming. Then at some point some people made it A Thing and folk started making videos that attempt to trigger the sensation, but they're a crapshoot at best and really loving creepy at worst. Here's a bird, supposedly, though it just looks like some leaves to me https://twitter.com/BirdPerHour/status/1045418279261667328

barbecue at the folks posted:My town is famous for its jackdaws. Collateral Damage posted:We have a lot of jackdaws as well and I love them. Both handsome and clever. Wattup jackdaw buddy buddies. I wouldn't say my town is famous for them, but we do have loads of the little buggers and I also love them. I love observing them while I sit down for a coffee at my usual street cafe downtown. They'll just loiter about, totally not eyeing my food while scrounging around for crumbs, and sometimes one will just sit on a chair nearby and observe me right back. A few weeks ago one almost managed to snatch the last of my carrot cake while I was looking the other way momentarily. I did shoo it away, but honestly I was kinda sorry for having to do so. Personally I'd love to feed them the occasional scraps, but I don't think the café staff would be all too happy about that.
